Thanks for making my point. As soon as Miller serves his league suspension he'll be back on the field just like Brian Cushing of the Texans.

Its funny how people think players in the NFL don't smoke weed. A lot of players smoke weed in the NFL. Maybe not always during the season but in the offseason, oh absolutely. Id make a strong bet that over 50% of the players in the NFL have smoked weed more than once at some point during their professional career... If not more..

Nah they'd rather people be addicted to painkillers. If weed can do the same thing and is less harmful, why not let it be?

because its a frickING TEAM RULE.
I know most here arguing that weed is cool won't get this reference but it is the same thing as your employer requiring you to wear slacks and a tie to work and you wear a tshirt. You just broke the rules and are subject to getting fired. Sure tshirts never harmed anyone but they are against the rules.

Agreed. You know WEED helped Ricky Williams career so much. He didnt give a damn about anything.

I might add that as a safety director for my employer, it is always easy to pick out the WEED smokers. They dont give a damn about anything. Show up late. Dont come in. Cant follow the rules. Why? WEED

Maybe he'll have enough sense to go back to LSU [or any college] and finish his education. But then maybe somebody else will pick him up. I mean the only one left smiling out of this debacle is the bloodsucking agent. He's already got his cut.

Damn I hate those parasites.

Sam shoulda been smoking with starters, just gave the Texans an easy way out to get rid of three scrubs.

Yeah, can't help but think Kubiak needs to add some guys with all the injuries, and these 3 just gave him an easy way to free up roster spots.

Really sad that these guys haven't gotten this thing about rules...I was hoping to see Sam playing for the Texans one day. And he's probably hurt his NFL future worse by that than if he'd stayed at LSU another year...

If I smoked just weed at my current job and was caught, I'd be fired. Why should people who makes millions of dollars a year be any different? Last time I checked, smoking weed was still illegal.

How many do it in the team hotel?

Regardless of your personal opinion, it is still illegal in most states. A professional organization can not have their players breaking laws while staying in the team hotel. Those players represent the entire organization at all times, and especially when with the team on a road trip.

That doesn't matter and is not the point. All the players in the NFL know that is against NFL policy to smoke weed. The players that choose to do it also know the risks if they get caught. Unfortunately for Montgomery he got caught and he is now paying the price. Can't blame anyone else but himself. If your employer tells you not to do something and you do it anyway you risk the possibility of being fired. He risked it and he got caught and got fired. Simple as that.

Sounds like Gary is tired of the distractions and trying to right the ship. It looks like Sam's actions had him on a short leash.

If what Sam says is true, there is not much he can do as his employer has the right to waive him at any time.

Sam needs to focus and do the work or he will

Seriously are you that fricking stupid. If your employer says "DON'T DO THIS" or you will lose your job. How stupid does one have to be to risk it. It is not about whether weed is right or wrong, it is about what your employer states you can or can not do to keep your job.

The bigger statement should be. How childish is Montgomery for risking his career to smoke a blunt.

Here is what you should be thinking. If your employer says I will pay you $3mil dollars for 4 years work but during those 4 years you can't smoke any weed. Would you take the deal?

if these players were someone like arian foster, the texans would let the NFL's substance abuse policy handle it. this was just an easy way for the texans to cut non-contributing players

These 3 are idiots. You can't do this kind of stuff if you are a role player.

My cynical side says that Andre Johnson was caught burning one down there wouldn't have been the same result.

Well considering these three players have probably benefitted greatly in life by being more athletic than the average person, I'm sure they, of all people, would understand how being good in athletics can give you and advantage. Does anybody really think that Sam Montgomery put in as much time studying in college as your average Joe Student?
