No,this isn't a great Alabama team. But this game was in doubt for most of crunch time and it didn't look good.

Guy has brought a lot of grief on himself, but he deserves some credit for today.

Good job,Coach.

Exactly. JJ has no control over refs making absolutely awful calls.

What part of his coaching did you like in particular? When we were coming back how he told Simmons to drive in 1 on 1 from 30 feet out, or when it was a tied game and TQ drove in without the ball touching Simmons?

Yea he called a TO finally and TQ drove 1 on 1 and luckily put back his own miss. Great play drawup. Great coaching.

I'll give him some love today too I-59. I surely give him enough grief and IMHO he has earned some, but he got his kids to sack up on the road against a undermanned team that brought their best. Good win Tigers!!

That wasn't the original play he drew up. Bama took away the initial action so they decided to run it down and let Q go at a smaller defender. It's a a very popular late game strategy.

What about set plays that have more than one action? Im a coach. We have about 3 plays just for short time situations that have multiple options. None of them include taking a guy 1 on 1 with no passes

I no longer coach but did in the past. I like limiting the amount of passes in a late game situation. Nothing worse than making a bad pass and giving the other team numbers in that situation.

You can never go wrong with a little horns action for last possession. Need to start it early though. Teams always set screen with 6-7 seconds. Get it started a little sooner so your not shooting terrible last shot if D shuts down

Go check my post history. I've never once complained about refs. Today the refs were bad on both sides but pretty much every call late went against LSU.

Great post. Somebody in here knows a little basketball. Horns is always a good late game option.

Thank you sir.

I wish there was legitimate basketball x and o's talk sometimes. There has got to be a site for that somewhere lol

Yep. We don't get much of that on the rant. People are quick to say JJ doesn't know X's and O's but couldn't draw up a floppy set to save their lives.

How about the 2-3 zone without Victor and an extra guard that helped lead our dominant defensive effort in the last 5 minutes?

Blakeney drives me crazy sometimes on O, but he closes out so well on D. He shined at the end.

Not much of one apparently

Tell me how the Duke offense works set plays into their O, which is a free flow offense.

Coach K, arguably the best active coach, tends to let his guys play in late game situations

The play we tried was defensed well, probably because Avery is, imo, a fantastic defensive coach. Q took the guy to the rim, let go of a bad shot from a good look, and had the mind and effort to follow it up and win us the game
