...on his radio show that he (at LSU) was the only D-1 School that recruited Corey Webster.

He was talking about he he doesn't look at stars and that he has his own criteria to evaluate talent. I guess we all know how webster turned out.

also, the guy before his said that most of the teams on our schedule this year passed on Terrance Cody before coach Saban picked him up at BAMA.

I think his gift is having an eye for talent.

Admin can move this to the Tiger Rant, that is where I meant to put it because of Webster being mentioned by Saban.

He is full of shite. Corey Webster was a top notch LA recruit coming out of HS. He was being recruited at WR most of the time, couldnt make the cut to start once on campus and saw an opportunity for playing time at CB.

I can't wait until he gets on an NFL team and becomes the next Gilbert Brown. That should be great. Plays about 12 snaps a game.

I'll bet you paraphrased that poorly. If he said that its a bald faced lie. He wouldn't lie on the air.

so he is lying on his show? Webster had quite a few DI offers, and was a Member of The Advocate Second Dozen, Tiger Rag Dirty Dozen and Times Picayune Top 24 Blue Chip List .

Yep. He not only had offers in football. He had offers to play mid-major D1 BASKETBALL. He was on the LSU team for a few weeks as a freshman and would have been a top bench player at worst had he stuck with roundball.

My uncle who coached HS football in NW LA for 30 years told me that CW was THE BEST all-around athlete he had EVER coached against.

Saban is FOS on this one.

Without Jacob Hester, no crystal football in 07. What was he? A three star, right? I dont think they figure heart into the star ratings.

That was a gem of a recruit.

Not only was he a WR recruit, he was recruited by Nebraska as a QB LINK

Yeah, I liked his insight into the spring recruiting also. About how he thinks they should be allowed to go to games because he isn't there to talk to the players, he's there to watch the best players play against each other so he can evaluate.

I listened to the show via the link posted on another thread.

1. Saban said Cody wasn't recruited by teams Bama plays. Does Bama play Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Miss. St.? Cody was recruited by "The U," amongst others.

2. Saban said that even though Corey Webster was not a highly recruited HS player, Saban gave him a scholarship to LSU.

Both of the above statements are incorrect, to say the least. Also, since Saban should be VERY familiar with the recruiting of both Cody and Webster, it was a Clinton-esque lie.

Why does he lie about something so easy to disprove?

IMO, to create the image that he is the best talent evaluator in football and that he can turn average players that no one else wanted into All-Americans. But, I would not say Cody and Webster were "average" HS players.
