Rudy toot actually changed not only the LSU basketball program but the entire landscape of SEC basketball. LSU became a national power and taught the rest of the SEC how to go head-to-head with Big Blue.

it was very humbling to watch the actual ceremony, including the end of it as he welcome the current Tiger team back onto the court for the 2nd half---plus while Dale Brown was there, he was there only in support of Macklin----Dale did not have a speaking role in this.

Actually, that whole era of LSU basketball was legendary as that was the only title they could garnered with all of that talent. You think things have been stacked in football the last several years...those teams were incredibly stacked and was not able or given the chance to win it all. Obviously, that started people saying that Dale Brown was a fantastic recruiter/motivator, but not a bench coach. That stuck until he left coaching under dubious circumstances.

I remember the Indiana final four heartache like it was yesterday...

That interviewer was struggling. I couldn't get past the first 30-45 seconds. Rudy deserves better.

It is what you call class. Wish we had more like him.

This was back when students cared about basketball and filled the arena and actually intimidated other teams.

brilliant. I am not knocking our basketball team this year anymore than they should be, but it's a little freakin easier to cheer for a final four team with nothing but talent rather than an 0 and 11 conference play team isnt' it?

ETA: There's more students there than others, and the ceremony was great...I wish we had a little more players like him on the team now

gotta love that guy. he was a tremendous player. that team made basketball fun to watch again. May have been a long time ago, but what happened to Greg Cook? I didn't know he had passed.

Died unexpectantly in his sleep back in 2005. Was only 46, but he had a long history of heart problems. I never heard what the coroner determined his cause of death was, but I'm guessing that it was probably the heart issue.
