We usually find a bar and stay there all day. It's not a ton of fun compared to how it used to be. But the game is a good atmosphere.

Good advice. There's generally some decent tailgating out near the swampy area near campus. However, I would hit up a bar and grab some Chik-fil-a before the game and chill. The atmosphere in the stadium is one of the best in the SEC, especially if it's not a "frying pan" day game.

Don't really know what you guys are talking about. There's plenty of alcohol at the tailgates. I go to a game every year with a Gator buddy of mine and there's tailgating there just like everywhere else.

And the stadium is a great one for football. Their fans are VERY LOUD and passionate, which I respect.

Now don't get me wrong, there are a lot of jorts and tacky people at Florida and I'm not a big fan of the place overall, but the gameday experience isn't nearly as bad as the other posters are saying.

Must be in solo cup, still get hassled, etc etc etc.

Happens every year.

What gameday experience?

Nobody argues that if you have a someone hosting you at their tailgate it certainly changes things, but the vast majority of people don't have that. They end up going to the Swamp or somewhere else on/near University Avenue and doing the same thing they can do at home for far less money and way less hassle.

I said that it was my least favorite and that you better go with a plan. It's not as easy as LSU. Plus it's very well known that they harass opposing fans more than home fans so that probably helps you.

If you had a beer can in your hand you would get a ticket.

I did like their stadium and it got pretty loud and all. I would suggest a game in the Swamp once. But to have to put up with Gainsville more than once? Meh. I wouldn't do it.

If you're wearing UF stuff, sure, the campus police don't mess with you usually. If you're in a group with UF fans, you're probably ok but if you're planning on setting up your own tailgate and so forth (booze) as a visiting fan, it's terrible.

I think Golfer was made to take down his entire tailgate just because.

I hate that place.

I feel like I need to clear up most of the false information in this thread. You are 100% allowed to drink on UFs campus. It doesnt even have to be in a cup. On campus and you can chug out of a 5th if you want to. Now, the second you step foot off the campus boundary, prayers sent.

Well that wasn't the rule a couple years ago... They had a dry campus. Not sure if things have changed.

I'm calling bull shite.
Have been plenty of times. Day games and night.
Plenty of beer, etc., AT THE TAILGATE. Trouble if you walk around campus with it.
Find the big LSU alumni tailgate that was right by the baseball field. Band arrives next to it and plays fight song. Was great.
Florida fans are assholes, but you have to go at least once.

ETA: With all that being said ... this is on the UF site:
"Open Container Law
It is prohibited to consume or possess any alcoholic beverage in an open container on any public street, sidewalk, public parking facility or private property when the owner has not given consent to consume alcohol or have an open container on the property. The law includes consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages in or around Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Violators are subject to a civil citation."

Maybe you just have a container with a lid?

I don't know if it was a fact or not but I remember him saying they made him do something with his tailgate.

I tailgated with UF people and we put beer in a cup and were fine. I had friends that got in trouble though the same day, on campus.

Probably a bit of embellishment. Have seen plenty of LSU set-ups. Now if you make offensive signs about Tim Tebow or take his name in vain, well, then you have crossed the line and will be shut down on the spot.

Take an RV. Park in visitor lot with the other Tiger fans. Don't leave the motor home parking other than for the game. You will have a blast.

Been to every LSU football gane there since '98. Usually we spend a week or so in Disney prior so it's generally something we look forward to, plus it's always during Epcot food and wine.
As far as drinking on campus, I generally carry a flask and mixmy drinks in a soft drink container to not arouse much suspicion. I have seen cops pour peoples drinks on the ground and write them up if they were obvious about drinking.

Been a couple of times and like most here, it is the worst SEC experience I have ever had - I hate Gainesville, so two years ago we stayed in Cedar Key a quirky coastal community about 50 miles west of Gainesville. A couple of nice restaurants and away for the idiot gator fans, cops, etc. Not going this year because the McCartney concert was moved to that day.

Went there a few years ago when State actually won a game in the swamp. Got there early and this is the first thing we see when we enter campus.

The sign said it all.

Cops around the stadium are very strict and their attitude makes it feel more like a military state (same for the highway patrol). However I've tailgated with and without LSU fans and never had a problem. Inside the stadium is awesome and the TGBFTL always seems to rise to the occasion. They NEVER disappoint.

Funny you mention that about the hwy patrol, I was once stopped for going too slow near campus Bc I was trying to get my bearings....fortunately didn't get a ticket. Though one if their finest got me the next day (after we won) for going about 5mph over.

Stadium is good. Go party with the LSU tailgaters. The cops won't mess with you. They may mess with you if you are walking around outside the stadium with a drink in your hand. I've never had any issues.

Fans tend to take exception to "Tiger Bait", mainly because I think they view the "Gator Bait" chant as their own and don't like to see another school using it, I think...

Not my favorite place to watch LSU football, but closest to home. Stadium Loud, needs renovation, FL fans are Turd'ble ... lots of students from NorthEast.

The South Florida LSU Alumni Association usually has a good tailgating spot and lots of fun, specially when the traveling band stops by for a private concert.
