It should be comforting to many that now, after five years of coaching for LSU, Coach Miles has spotted an area of needed improvement relative to clock management.

It's all good.

You talking about the player comments? How is a player questioning coaching decisions in the media ever a "good thing"?

Speaks for all fans watching the game:

"I was wondering. I was expecting a timeout," Ridley said.

"But we waste 17 or 18 seconds. I mean that's precious time that we lost."

I think we need to go back to have the players call a timeout and not having the coaches able to call a timeout.

I know this is not directed to me...
but you are right, it is not a good thing, but
Ridley will learn....

I see it a frustration that overflowed and I do not read any more into it than that. He will learn.

I remember "ME", at that age

What I'm wondering is if his comments will have any affect on how much game time he sees. I wouldn't expect him to be held out of the game, but I'm wondering if he sees fewer reps as a result.

Piece together the comments of the team, they're ultimately defending their coach who they sincerely like.. even if he is a bafoon

By admitting his mistake, Miles did what any man would be expected to do. What's so great about that?

What Miles does and doesn't do on gameday is what poor coaches do, and poor coaches get shown the door.

If it does, it is BAD COACHING (an over reaction), this is an opportunity to sit with him and teach him leadership and professionalism.

Who cares? The fans don't need or deserve an advocate on the team. All the comments do is fuel further speculation that there's dissension on the team. That's an internal matter; in the hands of the public, it can be construed in a multitude of ways and actually used AGAINST the team, especially in something like recruiting.

My bad! Didn't know you meant the "whole" pool of comments. I'm used to people cherry-picking!

Sure, point taken. But if the game is on the line, do you want a leader or someone who is giving a commentary (only fitting of a star NFL wide-out) on the coaching, when he has only defaulted into both playing time and the starting job this season. Not knocking Ridley - I'm sure he will be a huge part of the offense next season - just curious how this will play out.

It's also entirely possible that Ridley has leadership traits, which are what led him to speak up in the first place when asked.

I'm late to the dance as well, obviously, but I find it very telling where he says, "That's not what Coach Crowton wanted to call." Hmmm...

And why shouldn't a player be allowed to comment or question his coach? If the press asks them questions or asks for a comment, are they supposed to lie?

Hmmmmmm, sounds like Miles overode Crowton on the call. Sounds like Crowton wanted to run and Miles veto'ed him.

Sure, but if you are on the receiving end of his comments - do you see it as leadership or immaturity?

Not lie, but all players need to learn what their place in the team is and what leadership is...
the news media will exploit them and ruin the career without a care.

he needs to learn to defer the question.....

Also, if all players are allowed to talk, you would not only have chaos, but will likely give emotional ammunition to other teams, it is a no win situation....
that's the coaches job.....certainly not a freshman's job
