SIAP..

It sounds like he wants to do exactly what LSU is in need of, but who knows if would be a good fit.

quote:

Is coaching elsewhere one of those options?

“Oh, yeah. No doubt. I’ll say this: If and when I do coach again, I’m looking forward to coaching again, in terms of being more hands-on. I miss coaching quarterbacks. I miss calling plays. I miss that part of it. Whether it’s in the role of head coach, coordinator, quarterbacks coach, whatever it is, if I choose to do that, I’d be really excited about coaching QB’s again and getting in the middle of the offensive strategy. Not that I wasn’t in it, but I wasn’t calling it. I think I’d be more apt to do that again.”

What’s next for Richt?

“These next two weeks were earmarked for recruiting to the dead period, 14 straight days. Now that I’m not recruiting, there’s nothing on my calendar. Even that bit of time will allow me to decompress and there may be more opportunities that come in the next 24 or 48 hours, that type of thing. I’m going to listen to anybody that has interest in me, coaching or not.”

On why he chose to coach in Georgia’s bowl game.

“Oh, man. I was very thankful for the opportunity. You kidding me? You get one more time with these guys and to finish the season? If it wasn’t offered to me, I would have asked for it.”

What would he do differently?

“I really miss hands-on coaching, the coaching of the quarterbacks, calling the plays. When I turned it over to Mike Bobo, he was more than ready to do it and did an unbelievably good job. But at the time, the weight of the job and feeling like — if all you do is coach quarterbacks and call plays, you can spend your whole offseason coaching ball. You spend your whole offseason visiting people and getting new ideas. As a head coach, there wasn’t much time to do that. There was always this to do and that to do. In-season, people don’t expect a lot with speaking engagements. As soon as the season ends, people think coach is free. I enjoyed doing those things, but you don’t really have the time you need. If I do decide to coach again, especially as a head coach, which I would want to do, I have to make sure there’s enough support around me to handle certain things. Also, let people know on the front-end I’m going to coach in the offseason, too. When I first came here, I’d never been a head coach. I didn’t know anything. I didn’t know the Georgia culture. I’ve learned a lot. As far as regret, not regret, but I miss the hands-on coaching part.”

I doubt he will be doing this. Probably will have another job within that 2 weeks, and they're gonna want him on the recruiting trail and starting the rebuild.

He tried it once before when he coached FSU in the NC game vs OU, while putting things together at UGA, and it failed spectacularly.

If Richt came, would Jacob Eason follow him?

This board would go nuts if so. Make it happen Joe

Almost sounds like he is saying, "Hey LSU, I'm available."

I think he'll get better offers, probably some HC offers, but we need to at least make him turn it down. He might take a year or 2 gig to decompress and see what opens up later.
