Yeah you totally missed my point or I didn't convey it correctly. I know we use blocking TE. I know we barely run them on routes. My point is when we actually do send them on routes, its not the first thing Harris looks at.

We are basically saying the same thing

We don't throw to the tight end because Les doesn't trust his QBs to throw the ball over the middle. Which is where the tight end will usually be.

Perfect example is 9:50 left in 4th on 2nd & 7 (LSU 14-13)

They run Dural motion down to wing blocker....PA....only 2 options are Dupre 1 on 1 for deep ball or J.D. Moore in the flat. O-line gets cracked early, and instead of having the TE as the backup option since there's only 1 progression, it's the fullback - Harris gets sacked

Les Miles prefer they just block

I agree with everything you posted. You need to get the ball in your best mis-matches hands, & in 2016, unfortunately Miles doesn't believe in the virtues of a employing a receiving threat at TE consistently

I think for the very very very few times they have Desean Smith on the field and run a passing play with him and the other WRs, that Harris does play well. He's really limited in his throwing options in the I-Formation. He was born and bred in a shotgun system, and he's much more comfortable throwing from that position instead of the seven-step drop he's currently put in.

Throwing to the TE is great, and everyone wants it, but its a mystery why Les doesn't push it more...maybe because Bo Schembechler didn't do it.

The blocking tight ends can't block or catch. The receiving tight ends never play, so who the hell knows what they can do
