First off last years team doesn’t mean anything for this game. Experience is a non factor as Lsu has played what 7 top ten teams in varying venues already this season. That’s probably as many has y’all have played in 3 years.

I think in the last decade more so than the past the balance of power has become more and more consolidated. There is a select few who can take out the top one to two teams. As much as it pains me to say this given the Ohio state fans on this site I came away from the fiesta thinking the committee had it right that the best two teams were Lsu and Ohio state. I absolutely hate saying this because I believe in head to head but 7/10 times Ohio state wins that game. It took the perfect storm for Clemson to win. With that said. Clemson is One of about 2-3 teams in the country who can steal one from Lsu and Ohio state this year. I just think that if LSU avoids turn overs then they win.

But what about coaching experience in the big game?

Bama beat us 8 times in a row, did it help them AT HOME this year?

Oklahoma has made 4 straight playoffs, did the experience help them?

Experience is great but it is not the end all be all.

Going through life not respecting someone because you don’t like them, even though they’ve earned it, won’t get you far.

What kinda dime store logic is this crap. Do I personally respect Clemson, no, I could careless about Clemson. Why do I care if you feel respected?

Freddie, Clemson is the needy girlfriend that gets sad if you don't tell her how pretty she looks 10 times a day.

You know whats crazy? Cole Cubelic said that he had talked to a friend on the OU staff and they were confident in their defensive gameplan. WTF

Each team is different. It's pretty clear watching Clemson that this isn't the same defense as last year.

Respecting the program is different than respecting this specific team. Clemson obviously will continue to play for championships IMO. That's huge respect. It doesn't mean you are defacto favorite moving forward.

May the best team win!

I'm hoping both teams play their best game of the year...because LSU wins going away in that scenario IMO.

You don’t think that LSU has been disrespected? If Alabama had our resume, they’d be heralded as the best team of all time. Instead the CFP committee was manufacturing reasons not to rank us #1, up until the time they had no other choice. All we heard was how good Ohio State and Clemson were while we were mowing down ranked teams. First the media said that Texas was going to beat us, then Florida was going to beat us, then Auburn, then Bama, then UGA. You get the picture. Dabo’s “we’re disrespected” and “God wants Clemson to win” shtick has grown stale. We didn’t flinch in the spotlight of the CFP semifinal, and we will be playing in a venue that we’re well-acquainted with, in front of what’s sure to be a very pro-LSU crowd. I think we’ll be fine.

OU fans said the same thing. OU has been in the playoffs, what 4 out of 5 years? How did that playoff experience do against LSU’s lack of playoff experience?

This LSU team has played at Alabama in a matchup of 1 vs 2 with the president on hand. This LSU team played the first “huge matchup” of the 2019 season at Texas. This LSU team has played in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta against Georgia. This LSU team has played in the CFB semifinals.

Don’t fool yourselves into thinking the bright lights will get them.

Don't really get the respect card thing as a CU fan. Much more interested in evaluating actual results and that is what this thread started on.

Did you really watch the game again? Because if you did, you saw BV at his best. We got gashed on two big runs that combined for over 130 yards. He completely changes the formations we were running and they got 70 yards after that on 32 carries.

Tony Elliot the OC, saw the coverage we were getting and changed from long vertical passes to short intermediates with TL being the primary ball carrier.

The actual results were we spotted them 16 and then outscored them 29-7. Now the knee jerk reaction to 99% of you is going to be about refs, or bad play calling on OSU, etc. The real results is CU changed game-plans midway through the 2nd quarter and won the game.

For those keeping track at home, that's 200 yards on 34 attempts

Last time I checked, yardage gained and points scored in the first half still count.

Dobbins was injured. That was the primary factor in the defensive success. That and the success of the continuous blitzing of Fields.

None of that was overly successful. What happened was Clemson landed 3 big plays. Good coaching led to some of that. But, it was more about the athletic ability of Etienne and Lawrence. The injuries at WR probably contributed to the lack of consistency on offense though.

For those of you at home they scored 2 TDs on 200 yards rushing and 300+ yards passing. Last time I checked the final score is calculated off of points scored not yards gained.

You were ranked 3rd going into the playoffs after playing a shite schedule all year. Be lucky it wasn't 4 and your team isn't sitting at home on 1/13.
