Holy moly that was tough. Had a 14 point lead 62-48 with 8:37 to go and scored 3 points the rest of the game all on free throws. DID NOT HAVE A FG IN THE FINAL 10:21 after a Jarell Martin 10 foot jump shot. That is almost impossible to do but yet we found a way to do so. BRUTAL!

Why would you torture yourself like that. That NC State team was talented, but there was no excuse for us to have lost that game at all.

Looking back now it is painfully obvious Jones was in over his head. That was an epic collapse. 1st half we looked like an NBA all star team. 2nd half we can't make layups.

Watching that ball bounce around the rim and go in made me physically sick that night. I couldn’t believe that season ended in that fashion.

And we’ve played almost every game the exact same way since.

It was like NC State gave its terrible mojo to LSU for that second half. Felt weird

and the the following year, LSU doesn't even make the postseason with Ben fricking Simmons.

Year after that, LSU goes 2-16 in the SEC.

Other than winning the SEC in a much stronger conference and actually winning the majority of our close games....since Jones left at least

Frick that 2nd half! As painful as it was to watch, having no live sports to watch is more painful.

Only took three posts for the Johnny Jones bashing. What exactly was he supposed to do if every shot was missed in the final eight minutes? Should he have suddenly stopped doing everything which built the `14 point lead.

Some of you people think you are so original with these endless negative comments. Will Wade has proven to be a better coach than Jones and i had no problem with replacing him in 2017., but Jones was not near as bad as some of you regurgitate over and over. He was actually quite respectable in building the program back after Trent Johnson let it deteriorate.

For the record he averaged 20 wins and was 40-32 in the SEC for his first four years which is not horrible. his last year it fell apart , primarily due to the suspension of Craig Victor and Brandon Sampson breaking his foot.

Johnny was a valuable member of several of the most successful teams in LSU history, was a valued assistant coach during more successful seasons under Dale Brown and worked hard in his five years as head coach. He is due much more respect than many of you give him. He may be away now but he still bleeds purple and gold.

Brutal for sure but on the flip side how in the hell did we win that Missouri game a few years ago. What was it down 12 with 2 min left? shite like that happen in sports sometimes. Something bad happens for one team and it snowballs, and something good happens for the other.

This is in no way meant to say that Jones was a good coach and that he didn’t have faults in that game but can you please explain to me how missing a lay up is the coach’s fault?

When it's a coach fans like it's the players' fault when there's a loss. When they don't like the coach it's on the coach. We have lost a few games in the same fashion under Coach Wade.

This is only coming up because of the HBO Documentary bring in the news.

I might be mis-remembering but one of my memories from that game is Jones' lack of rotation the entire first half and most of the second half. Our guys were worn down by the end of the game and it showed

You would be correct, it was much more than a missed lay up... LSU was up 14 at the break

How you dont put 1 bucket in for 10 minutes in an NCAAT game with SO. Jarell Martin, SO. Jordan Mickey, JR. Keith Hornsby, SO. Tim Quarterman, JR. Josh Gray...I'll never know. So much talent wasted there to not even win 1 tournament game where you even had a huge lead in 2nd half. All 5 of those guys went on to play in the NBA or put up hella good stats in the G-league. They could all play.

- Jarell Martin has played in 184 NBA games.
- Jordan Mickey has played in 64 NBA games and currently plays for international powerhouse Real Madrid.
- Tim Quarterman played a little in NBA and has tore up some international leagues like the NBL.
- Josh Gray has played in a few NBA games and been a G-league all-star.
- Keith Hornsby led the g league in 3 point % 1 season and was one of the best 3 point shooters we've had at LSU in the last decade easily.

Ugh, fkin Johnny Jones

Johnny Jones was a miserable Coach. I’m sure he’s a decent guy but total pinhead
