Thanks for chiming in after the fact...I recall reading your posts last week and was curious to see how it went. Glad you had a good time!

Good use of video boards, the band was talented (its tough to play in the rain, I know), and the crowd was feisty for it being a downpour.

As a previous poster just mentioned, these were 3 hotly bitched about topics this weekend. I hope the bitchers read this thread as a reminder of how good we really do have it here.

I really do hope you can make it back next year...as the other posters have said, it honestly was fairly "tame" this weekend compared to what it could be given better conditions.

damn shame about the "stiff dew"....the best part had to be experiencing LSU/Tiger Stadium with your Dad....dead solid perfect.

wish I was at Sam & Omies's on the OBX right about....now!

oh yeah....beat the Heels.

get better, get ready...get even.

Holy crap you've been around. How was Georgia?

As a neutral fan...it was great. Love how the main part (read: Bars and restaurants) of Athens (really cool town, BTW) runs right up to the edge of campus.

Nice folks, the barking gets old, and the parking is a little crappy, but otherwise its a first class place to watch a game.

Was there for UGa - UT Staffords last year.

There crowd is a little more, shall we say aristocratic? than yours. But still a fun loving bunch of mutts.

Saturday we showed up about 9 and parked in the Kirby lot. It took some serious convincing it was a free place to park. There isn't that much free parking at NCSU or ECU, my usual tailgate places.

shhhhh.... Never mention free parking. The administration at LSU will see more $ signs and start charging for those also.

Glad you had a great time. I just wish it stayed dry so you could have gotten a real show.

Questions
-What separates LSU's tailgating from the others you've visited?
-What foods did you try that you had never tried before?
-How's your liver?

I also ran into a group of Auburn frat boys...only assholes I met all day,

and they'll be the first ones to start rumors about LSU fans raping their grandmother and beating little auburn kids.

I posted a bunch of questions to folks on this board prior to my trip and you all asked me to post a "review" of LSU after I got back. Well here it is. WOW. Amazing. Best experience yet. Ruined me for all other trips....get the picture? I was completely impressed by everything I experienced this weekend. The food, folks, football...all of it. I did walk around in my NCSU gear like I said I would and the first two things out of folks mouths were very consistent:

1. You all got screwed Thursday night!
2. You got any place to tailgate? C'mon over!

The hospitality was unmatched anywhere I've been.

What did we tell you? Glad you had a good time! Come back again!

- The size of the tailgate setups which promoted big gatherings of folks. Most places I've been all the parking is assigned, so it is difficult to get large groups together. I've never seen so many 30+ groups with 6 tents before. Also has the biggest RV lot I've ever seen.

- I've always loved LA food, so most things I've had before. The Boudin balls were new and also some sauce over fish I can't pronounce. I did have the best "Brown" jambalaya I've had. Who knew there was more than one kind?

- My liver? No problem there. It's been in training for years!

I sat in 616 row 13.

it's a rat race around 4pm the Friday before...when the gates open. Our group actually did set up 6 tents this weekend, and probably had at least 50 people, 10 being visiting Aubbies.

Well it actually does rain in Carter-Finley (4 season openers in a row there was a hurricane), so we are used to it.

BTW, is it normal to put mayo on BBQ down there? You do that here and you might get in some trouble.

Maybe cole-slaw, I've never put straight mayo on BBQ.

How'd you like 616, I sit in 615, kind of sucks in the rain with the wind factor up there in the stratosphere. Hopefully getting rid of 6 in 616 for 4 in the lower for next year.
