We need to get someone on board soon to try and stabilize program and retain basketball recruits.

Speaking of that, who do we have for next year and have any make statements after JJ firing?

Brandon Rachal, 6'5 G, Natchitoches Central (believe he said he's still in)

Galen Alexander 6'6 F, Lafayette Christian (been out with injury, can't imagine he'd want out either)

We need to get a good coach on board now before there are no good ones left.

I'm less concerned about the specific recruits in the current class.

As long as they get a coach who knows the AAU circuit. Its a completely different animal than football.

But will it be one that Temple wants to fail so they guide AAU talent elsewhere (Trent Johnson) or one he handpicked but ended up running the program into the ground (JJ)?

Lots of money to be made being a "handler". AAU has largely killed HS basketball. The one good thing is these guys generally get to compete against the best of the best often. (The coaching is generally no existent though)

So you say that we need a coach on board to retain recruits, but you have no idea who these recruits are. Nice.

Didn't he play in the state finals?

I think Reath and Sampson still have a good bit of potential

Its crazy, and with the money being poured onto it I don't see it changing anytime soon. Only issue I have is that basic fundamentals aren't being taught anymore. They have to learn the basics playing school ball. In AAU they are expected to already know, no time to retrain the kids. That's why some guys just don't fit into certain systems and high caliber coaches go after certain players.

You can have a guy averaging 25ppg during the AAU showcase and UNC,DUKE or Kansas won't even offer them.

its a degree worse than that.

the coaches are not disciplining the players. you are talking about the best players. its unlikely they never heard about the basics. they just DNGAF and the coaches are scared of them, that they will jump to another team.

Watching what our potential guys do once the coach is announced will tell a lot about the hire.
