Saban had to endure a rebuild. So yea there were some growing pains.
Miles was given the keys to a well oiled machine.
The head to head matchups prove Miles can't hold his jock.
your post is fricking dumb

Just remember 2006(7 draft picks, all his recruits) and miles found a way to lose at auburn that year
I remember that year, the year we had to start 2 converted d-linemen on the right side of the o-line because Saban forgot to sign enough o-linemen has last couple of years at LSU...

We win MNC with all Sabans recruits, despite Les losing 2 games.

If you look back historically, you'll see that what Miles is doing is very remarkable. Very seldom does a coach follow a national championship winning coach and win one for himself. The hardest thing to do in coaching is to follow a winner. You'd have to go back to the late 80's Miami Hurricanes and Jimmy Johnson to find a comparable example. To actually perform BETTER than your predecessor did when he was here is even more rare, but that's what Miles has done. It just so happens that Saban is doing even better at Alabama. That doesn't reflect badly on Miles though.
I agree with all of this. BUT I don't think Miles would have been able to do AT LSU what Saban did.At the time Saban was here. Face it He is a better overall coach. Not saying Miles is bad or anything. He is a top 5 coach in the country IMO.

Also, Les is an average coach at best, and I don't even think he's that great of a recruiter, at this point LSU is a brand that sells itself, we will get elite talent(most from LA) despite what moron is HC

Great post pimp. Bama/Saban is the gold standard in the sec that we really didn't have while Saban was at LSU. Any team other than Bama that had our schedule would wish to have our success.

Yeah, the one that in YEAR FIVE was coming off a near lost to Oregon State at home, a loss at Auburn where we scored NINE points, barely beat TROY at home by FOUR (really?),lost to Georgia by FOUR TOUCHDOWNS, and inexplicably went into a prevent defense and melted down against Iowa in his last game before he handed the aformentioned keys to Les? That Nick Saban ?
Look worship Nick and Bama all you want. But don't come in here thinking you can REVISE HISTORY. NICK SABAN WAS A frickING INCONSISTENT, SLOPPY, DISTRACTED, DISINTERESTED MESS AT LSU IN YEAR FIVE. FACT.

Saban was building the fricking program
do you remember how absolutely stacked we were in 2005-2007? we'd have been doing then what bama is doing now

x1000
Kids being recruited now only know LSU as an elite program. 10 years ago they didn't.
All the guys who thin miles is better or as good as saban just refuse to face the facts. Saban built 2 teams into powerhouses. Did Miles? He was 28-21 at Okie State. Go look at their record since he left and tell me if any Okie st. fans feel they have missed him. Based on how y'all love to compare rebuilding a team vs inheriting a team in good shape that would make Gundy a better coach than Miles right?

One problem ... HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE HERE!

mauck was supposed to be our QB in 2004 but he left early. we didn't have the depth yet to truly suffer that kind of loss
i mean frick, les has no depth excuses and did you see what we trotted out at QB 2008-2011?

You really don't think miles helped turn that program around? Kind of ridiculous and you have a very limited knowledge if you don't think he did.

Simple question. I know you will defend all things Saban and shite on les and give zero credit for anything to him but what do you want lsu to do? You want les fired?

No offense, but this is an uninformed opinion.
Check the history with Archer, Hallman, and DiNardo if you think LSU recruits itself.
And take a look at Miami or Michigan if you think a school's pedigree is enough to get top recruits. Both of those teams have far more championship history than LSU and they suck now. Miami fielded possibly the most talented team of all time 10 years ago and have numerous competitive advantages over UF and FSU, now they are a shell of their former self. You're delusional if you don't think that can happen to LSU.

This. Some people forget that some coaches improve over the course of their career, just like some players do.
