Redux 2022: "LSU fans pissed at Dawn Staley's comments"... what a difference a year makes!

Dawn Staley dismissed Mulkey's success last year intimating there was little difference between Kim Mulkey and Nikki Fargas
“They still play with the same grit,” Staley said when asked about Fargas’ team last season. “I thought Nikki did a great job getting the most of out of ’em. I mean, if she got the support that Kim is getting – you know ... If Nikki got a chance to do that, maybe she would still be sitting here.”
The Jan 2022 USC message board thread that followed is chock full of schadenfreude fun.

Mulkey's challenge lies in the future. I have no doubt she'll get them to the tournament regularly, but still yet to be seen if she can duplicate her success she had at Baylor. That was a lot of success!

1 year ago USCe was the alpha in women's basketball, today they are struggling with the reality of being replaced. To make it worse it is by an in-conference team.

LSU established a sustainable brand this year and won a championship. South Carolina won 1, a lot of games and has a very angry woman as a coach. That wasn’t sustainable

Staley knew this too, and deep down recognized her reign as Queen Bee was rapidly coming to an end. When confronted with this reality, she did what many in her community do…play the race card.

Mediocre coaches like easy paths. Nikki at LSU made her path easy. Not to mention the race aspect. Of course Staley wishes Fargas was still LSU’s coach.
