Redundant thread - but with analysis - LSU would have to step up to dumpster fire-

Offense - one of the highest paid coordinators - top players out of HS at every position - possibly excepting the OL - totally anemic - actually regressing from somewhat promising start against BYU (who, themselves, aren't very good)

Defense - one of the highest paid coordinators, one of the most respected for sure - top players out of HS at every position - start the year with suspensions in key areas and true freshmen playing (true on the offense, too, but they have other problems) - yes we lost a lot of defensive talent to the NFL last year, but that happens to good schools every year. Totally ineffective against MSU - struggled against veteran, but unspectacular, teams from Cuse and Troy.

Special Teams - no coordinator - multiple kickers have been tried. Multiple punters have been tried. Despite a couple of flashes, return game a non-factor. Coverage teams started out weak, but, rare for this team, showed some improvement down the stretch.

Overall - the team appears tentative, undisciplined (although penalties have gone from horrific to pedestrian - perhaps another area of improvement), unmotivated, weak and soft. This has happened, more or less, in the year or so O has been coach.

Now - are there fundamental talent problems on the offensive line? No question and a good bit of the offensive woes can be traced to that. And, to O and company's credit - they've tried every possible combination of players on the line (all 9 or whatever scholarship players), both QBs, every RB, whether O knows they're in the game or not. And the younger players, who are trying their best, are turning the ball over (Brossette and Brennan).

There is no fixing this this year. This is no fixing this next year, no matter what dream coaching scenario you can think of. But with a better coach, this team would be competitive with MSU, beat Troy and might be a .500 team in conference.

Does anyone doubt that Miles would be undefeated this year (regardless of how many questions we might have about the offense - again)?

We have to use this opportunity to clean house. Last year LSU made 133 million dollars. We have enough money. Now is the time to invest.

The guys would be better prepared physically and would play with more heart and determination. I have no doubt about it.

Ace, you are a good poster, but am I reading this right?

Miles with Fournette, and a more savvy squad last Fall, sat at 2-2 after four games, just like this year's train wreck sits 3-2. The Troy game was winnable with better coaching, the MSU one despite being close at Halftime..was not..the more physical team with a better QB was gonna win that home tilt regardless of whether these young Tigs were coached by Saban or Urban.

Let's stop right here.

Are you saying that Aranda deserves criticism for the product that he's putting on the field?

I 100% doubt this. In fact, I guarantee it wouldn't be true.

He's the defensive coordinator. I'm not calling for Aranda to be fired. I'm saying he's the defensive coordinator. If you're going to blame that on the players, just blame it all on the players and wait until next year.

What am I missing?

Then you're willing to give the O experiment one more year? Sorry if I'm putting words in your mouth.

You said it better than I could with my blanket assertion. Even if we had lost 1 or 2 games at this point, there would not be doubts about the team's leadership, heart and determination. Doubts would be mostly focused (again) on a real or perceived lack of offensive imagination.

"Undefeated" may have been hyperbole on my part - my apologies.
