It's damn near impossible for a head coach to keep his team on a peak. Valleys are inevitable.

Either through changes in assistant coaches or difficulty in recruiting caused by the perception of the lack of immediate playing time, head coaches almost always have to preside over periods of less than peak performance.

The phrase that a team "doesn't rebuild; they reload" is terribly abused and is almost never applicable . . . unless your head coach has universal, including media, backing. LSU has always had valleys.

OFFENSIVE LINE
LSU is trending up.

In 2015, LSU signed five lineman who received four stars from at least one service in 2015: George Brown, Adrian Magee, Maea Teuhema, Chidi Valentine-Okeke, and Toby Weathersby.
In 2014, LSU signed only two HS lineman who received four stars.
In 2012 and 2013, LSU signed only three HS lineman who received four stars.

Why the trend up? Grimes. The same man who has LSU in the top three for the #1 offensive lineman for 2016.

DEFENSIVE LINE
LSU is trending up.

LSU currently has commitments from two four star lineman with the very real potential to sign two five star defensive lineman.

Why the trend up? Orgeron. The same man who had LSU in the top three for the #1 defensive lineman for 2016.

QUARTERBACK
LSU is trending up.

LSU currently has a commitment from the #5 ranked PRO STYLE QB. More importantly, LSU has the very real chance of finally having a QB who won’t be pressed into starting before he is ready.

With Harris possibly playing for two more years and with McMillan and Etling waiting in the wings, Franks won’t have to start his first or second year. The development/experience/"years in the system" almost always makes a HUGE difference for a college QB.

Maybe the problem with LSU’s offense in recent years is not the OC or Miles. Maybe the problem is rushing QBs into play. To the extent that is the fault of Miles and not the formerly employed OCs, it appears Miles has fixed that problem. I think Harris has tremendous potential. I believe he will be a terrific QB for LSU. However, I can’t blame Cameron or Miles for not putting LSU’s fortunes in his hands just yet.

Why the trend up? Cameron. He is attracting the attention of top QBs.

LSU currently has the #1 recruiting class, AND Miles and company have the potential to reel in even more five star recruits. LSU’s recent recruiting success has the potential to build a strong foundation, not just for NEXT year but for SEVERAL years to come.

I didn’t expect LSU to win more than nine games in the regular season this year. In fact, I and the folks in Las Vegas predicted that LSU was likely to win eight regular season games. LSU has already met that expectation even if they don’t win another game.

With the way things are trending up, it seems to make a lot of sense to keep the architect who is laying the foundation and who has built SEC championship teams.

Les has a money problem. He has the highest paid staff in the country, and he doesn't get top 10 or 15 outcomes. The athletic department and donors are starting to ask him what exactly they are getting for that money. The other problem is LSU's season ticket retention rate has taken a hit over the last 3 years or so. That got Alleva's attention, make no mistake.

What's really funny is that most of the negas on here bashing Miles every time we lose a game and calling for his head now that they feel they have some traction are the same people that think the SJWs and campus hashtaggers terrorizing university admins around the country are the absolute scourge of society (I agree FTR).

You hear that negas, you are the SJWs of LSU football. Seriously.

"Trending up", yes, but only relative to Miles' trends. Also, it could be argued that Miles is the reason the "trending up" doesn't come sooner.

False. It's taken about 5 years for people to really get to this point. SJW's do not take that long to react.

BIGGES REASON to me is that we don't want to frick up this incredible recruiting class we have coming in

Make no mistake a lot of these kids are committed to the head coach or there position coach, make the change and you may see significant attrition

Does every fanbase do this or just LSU? Can't it be unanimous that we need a change here? Why is this board filled with people wanting a change one day and after 2-3 days they have second thoughts/cold feet? I don't get it. This team should be undefeated or at worse, one loss. If we lose tomorrow will the fire Miles crowd be back? Incredible how volatile a fanbase can be. It's exasperating being a part of this board at times. People need to be resolute with their decision on the coach and stick to it.

My god why can't some people understand. Nobody is asking to win every game every year. It's very simple. Every year the man trots out the same old undisciplined and unprepared clusterfrick on offense and refuses to change his ways or do anything differently. You say they get through valleys by changing coordinators but it makes no difference changing our offensive coordinator because we get the same garbage anyways. It's his stubbornness and refusal to address known issues on offense. It's time for a change!

Is it too much to ask that the coach at LSU beat Arkansas without giving everyone a heart attack when you actually manage to do it and to not lead the league in fricking penalties every year?

So you're reasons for tending up arent Miles.

It's the position coaches.

So your whole post was a fail.

LSU needs to do like the Apollo. Yank him off the HC position, give him a handshake and a thank you. Then show him the door.

LSU currently has the #1 rated recruiting class in the country.

So that would be relative to . . . everybody.

:smh:

Why do you think that? Did you expect that preseason?

Did the smart folks in Las Vegas think that preseason? No, they didn't. They expected LSU to have 3 or 4 losses during the regular season. LSU certainly will not be worse than Las Vegas predicted.

In preseason lines, LSU was favored in all but one game. Just sayin. Vegas lines aren't an indicator of anything other than how to balance their books. So it doesn't really matter anyway as that point is irrelevant.
