Two sources close to the situation said Craig is leaving because of concerns about how the offense was being run and how he fit. Those concerns grew to a point that Craig believed he no longer fit the program and that it was was time for him to leave.

It's obvious he and Malzahn and Lashley didn't see eye to eye. Hope Gus stays there for a long, long time.

Agree. Hopefully he can beat Bama and maybe finish 2-3 this year in the West. Just enough to keep him coming back.

I would guess that he also sees LSU as a pretty talented team in the immediate future as well.
.

My question is what happened with Ball. Did he want the RB job and when Juluke was hired he decided to leave. Seems weird the way it all happened.

I would think that maybe Miles knew Craig was looking for an out and reached out. Once he knew Craig would bite, Ball was "asked to leave".

I believe Miles was disappointed in Ball and let him go. His recruiting was weak and our WR's weren't exactly lighting the world on fire either.

Ball was a poor recruiter and our WR's regressed IMO or at the most remained stagnant in their development. They had a really hard time getting off the line this year when they got jammed. It was infuriating.

I don’t think Craig is some out-of-this-world WR coach, but he isn’t going to be a downgrade from Ball…and he has a ton of other huge benefits like experience with QB coaching, passing game coordinator, and he is an ELITE recruiter.

OK, but why come to LSU, where it looks worse. I know they are promising change, but, wow....

Typical Miles firing a coach by allowing him to "pursue other opportunities". He didn't overwhelm either on the field or the recruiting trail. We'll never really know, but I think Miles saw Ball and Steele as the best he could do having to offer Miles Clause contracts last year and is upgrading now that he can hand out more attractive deals.

I disagree. There were issues at both QB and WR positions. I think this hire will improve both those positions.

And we have positioned ourselves well with future QB recruits.

Yeah I'm not sure what to expect from our WRs with the addition of Craig. Aubbies said their WRs regressed under him. But there's no question he'll get some studs to BR.

My problem with this is part of their argument for it was that Duke got kicked out of school. How was that Craigs fault?

I do remember Duke having a lot of drops. But I'm no expert with Auburn WRs.

I guess my point is, with Duke I wouldnt have attributed poor play to any coach with him, he was a headcase.

Its pretty obvious Ball was pushed out. He doesn't have a job and we already have his replacement.

Any idea what his relationship with Narcisse was? It isn't Miles style to hire a guy for a recruit, but it could have been a little Lagniappe?

ball was pretty much non existent, we had an impressive WR haul this class and I don't think I saw any of them even mention his name in passing.

Reports are all over the place. We will find sooner or later. Some say CC is hot on his trail. Who knows
