Really sucks LSU lost the wholestaff game where the wholestaff actually pitched well

Usually the wholestaff games blow up on LSU and they give up about 8 or 9. Like Houston 2014 or TCU 2015. The pen pitched more than well enough to win. Just way too many mistakes in the field and on the bases. Who knows if Mainieri really thought he'd get a low scoring 1 run game. LSU has Poche and Lange for games 2 and 3. Can't ask for much more.

Just one inning. Not sure why Mainieri got so greedy. No problem really with Russell starting the 4th but it made no sense to leave him in after he walked two guys.

Zach Watson didn't show up.
Pawl messed up leaving Reynolds in.
Singer was masterful.
Good baseball game besides the frustration of their walks and our strikeouts.

Paul and Alan were having a pretty heated exchange with the first two walks on base. Don't know if I'd call this one all on him

Paul deserves some blame, but you simply cannot walk 3 straight right there. If Reynolds gets shelled, so be it, but you have to throw strikes.

Yeah he got a little greedy. But in this situation I think he was going to have to push someone beyond what they normally do, whether it was Reynolds, Bush or Newman.

Unfortunately he didn't have to push anyone today. Mainieri knew wholestaff usually doesn't work for him so he didn't think he was going to get that kind of outing from Bush or Newman. That's why he thought he had to press with Reynolds.

Yeah in retrospect he didn't have to push Reynolds based on how Bush pitched. Didn't see that coming. Oh well. I feel great about tomorrow and Wednesday

The thing is we could have very easily lost that game with Poche throwing. Singer is a beast and we still almost stole it.
