if people don't show up to nationally televised conference games, why would they show up to a practice at midnight?
maybe if you crank up the excitement to begin the season, make it become an event, then people will pay more attention to the team and go to games.

Absolutely, I've been wanting them to do a midnight madness here to drum up some excitement. But TJ was a terrible promoter so it never happened, hope CJJ does it

7:30 at night and I'd go. At 12 on a football weekend I'll be at the bars.

Martin and Mickey could deliver some serious dunks. Quarterman plays above the rim too.

This season is going to be awesome.

Yea I would assume they would do it in the late afternoon rather than after midnight.

What if they put a portable basketball court on the football field for a thursday night pep rally/midnight madness.
I guess the court would cost too much and too much extra work to stage it.

Im in 100%! I was in college during the LSU basketball golden era as far as attendance and crowd noise. During the Shaq, CJ, Vernel, Stanley, times that place was packed every game. We had the Crowd noise meter on the ceiling, Mike the tiger retracting by rope from the ceiling before the game and students had to come 5 hours before game time to get a seat for a normal game. a big game plan on pitching a tent on the ramp. I miss those days and I will be there with my kids if they were to do it.

Yes those days ('89-'91) were awesome.

I happened to be a student at LSU in the early 80's when Hi-C, Swat, Cookie Man, Rudy, JJ, Sims, etc. started 26-1 in '80-'81 and made the Final Four. The games were all SRO and the students camped out in line the night before.
There is nothing in the english language that can adequately describe the noise level during those days. Let's just say it was mini-Death Valley, but domed!....
I definitely think we can see (and hear) this again, starting next year.

Big schools may do it at midnight, but I think it would be a given that LSU wouldn't do that. It is simply a name given to an open fall practice where the team puts on a little show for the fans to get excited about the upcoming year. They may have a little dunk contest, a little scrimmage, etc.

Certainly wouldn't be at midnight.

My ideal "midnight" madness, it would start at 7, it used to have to be midnight because that was the first day technically you could practice. Now the NCAA allows I think like 6 hours a week, and or teams can have these events the day before.
Introduce the new players and whole team, CJJ speech.
Have an opposing team of former Tigers.
Team:
Brandon Bass- Boston
Glen Davis- Orlando
Chris Johnson- Minnesota
Garrett Temple- Washington
Anthony Randolph- Denver
Marcus Thornton- Sacramento
Tyrus Thomas- Charlotte
Tasmin Mitchell- overseas
Tack Minor- some may say no but he has been working out with Jon Lucas trying to get his stuff together and is playing overseas
Andrew Del Piero- Tuba makes a return!!!!
Justin Hamilton- drafted by Heat
Darell Mitchell- playing overseas currently in Ukraine
Darnell Lazare- playing overseas in Australia
Storm Warren- overseas Holland
Malcolm White- overseas Canada
Terry Martin- overseas Candad

3 Point contest and dunk contest along with scrimmage with other greats signing autos

I feel bad for the rim

Roman Rubchenko threw me his shirt at the last one I attended.

It was a XXL, so I never wore it
