I've been reading a lot about Harris' arm strength and wanted to know the Rant's opinion on an All Steongest Arms Team at LSU. This could span the generations and those that saw them actually play would be a plus.
Here are some I remember watching play and I've attempted to rank them as I remember seeing them:
1. Jones - he was far more accurate than JRuss and there is very little to no difference in strength. Famous end zone to end zone throw.
2. Russell - 60 yards on a rope on his knees
3. Steve Ensminger - another end zone to end zone guy. People that played with him and know him have a ton of respect how hard and far he could chunk it.
4. David Woodley - One of those guys not talked about. Cholly Mac SUCKED. Subbing him and Steve. Same as Bert Jones.
5 Mett/ Nall/ Howard/ Booty/ Harris
Tittle used to throw bombs in the pro's but always put air under it. Great Arm.
Go Rant.

I don't know how strong his arm was and he didn't get a ton of playing time but when he did. Jesse Daigle had a pretty live arm

I talked to an ex-receiver at LSU that played with Jones. He said his passes were thrown so hard you could hear them coming at you in practice.

Rohan is top three. Go back and watch tape. His throws looked EFFORTLESS and he could fire it in there.

For pure arm strength Russell had the biggest gun but the Ruston Rifle was just a shade behind Jamarcus and had the brains to know where to throw it!

He threw the ball end zone to end zone. So no I'm not freaking kidding you kid. You obviously never watched football before 2000. Tom Brady by today's standards has a strong arm and is an accurate passer, see what his coach said about Jones. His own coach.

Read this. Here endeth your lesson.

In 1990, Jones participated in the first NFL quarterback challenge. He finished first in the retiree category and third in the regular competition (The regular competition taking the top three finishers from the alumni competition and adding them to the regular field of current QBs). Given his strong performance, Bobby Beathard, then the GM of the Chargers, wanted Jones to come out of retirement, but Jones was 39 at the time and chose not to try a comeback.[citation needed]

The widely respected scout Ernie Accorsi is quoted as saying that if Bert Jones had played under different circumstances, he probably would have been the greatest player ever.[citation needed] John Riggins has been quoted as saying Bert was the toughest competitor he has ever witnessed.[citation needed] On the eve of Super Bowl XLII New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, in discussing his choices for the greatest quarterbacks of all time, described Jones as the best "pure passer" he ever saw.[3]

I refuse to believe anyone could throw it farther than Jamarcus. I mean literally anyone ever.
