Buncha scrub arse haters in this thread. 0? Really? A chance to take down a top 25 team on national tv and 0 excitement.

bandwagon LSU fans. Same people would be no where to be found if LSU football had 4 wins right now

Even without Calipari and Rose:

Memphis basketball >>>>>>>>> Arky football

Memphis: 10
Arky: 6 (because it's still football)

I'd give the B'ball game a 4, but mot nearly as much interest as the football game.

It's a football school. Basketball excitement will build in mid Jan.

football season is irrelevant though now. I don't get it. There's nothing to play for now.

Memphis is a 5-point favorite to win the game.

Prepping it now.

And if Memphis turns out to be REALLY good I'm gonna take a serious blow to my bank account.

(This may be Germans. I have not read through this entire thread.)

Just to compare the media coverage, this morning's BR paper had the first two pages of the sports section almost exclusively devoted to today's LSU football game.

The basketball team, coming off a nice win against a 'quality' opponent, had one article on the game and it was on the last page of the sports section. It was less than two columns. There was zero analysis of today's matchup vs Memphis, a ranked opponent.

And even worse, the Advocate didn't even send one of its sports writers to cover the team in the tournament. The article on the game was written by a contract writer, probably someone who lives in or near Orlando, designating the writer as "Special to the Advocate."

As long as the local media treats the basketball program as a minor sport, we won't see the same passion we see for LSU football or LSU baseball.
