He underachieved last year with 2 NBA players, Quarterman and Hornsby (1st round exit, barely made tournament)

1st round exit aside being an 8 or 9 seed is not barely making the tournament. Let's also remember that they were a wide open Mickey layup away from possibly going to the Sweet 16.

The program is in much better shape than when he took over and this is the first year where the team did not improve over the previous season.

I am not defending Jones. I think he is an above average recruiter and average at best bench coach. I am stating facts and the reasons they will give him one more year.

I think the problem is Alleva. Fire him and then you'll see a new and competent AD do what is needed across the board with all of our Athletic Department programs.

Between 19-22 wins next season.

Between 9-11 conference wins.

Bubble team with good wins and bad losses.

This is what we have for now.

Rabalais also said Les was getting canned, and we know how that turned out.

I argued it routinely during the season last year. So your statement is correct, that is at least "one".

If you think LSU was some mortal lock for the tournament last year, you're kidding yourself.

They lost to shitty teams with those guys in the lineup though.

Such as? Wake Forest, absolutely terrible. Although Wake at the time was smoking hot and coming off impressive wins. The only other losses we've had were @UF, @aTm, Oklahoma, @USCe, Bama at home. We for sure let Bama and Okie slip away.

I'm not taking up for Jones, but just to say "all teams have injuries" is a little silly. LSU clearly does not have the depth or talent as many teams. I think its pretty safe to say LSU has ZERO leadership on this team, so when they lose their #1 leader and 2nd leading scorer, that will have a huge impact.

FWIW, LSU is 6-6 without Hornsby and 12-7 with Hornsby. Also, with Hornsby we faced a lot more difficult teams.

If the rant had their way the athletic department would be broke from paying coach's buyouts every year.

Taking bets on average attendance at the PMAC next season. I'll se tthe O/U at 7500

Significantly less. If they schedule shite teams like they did this year, I would put the O/U at 5000. We won't be as exciting in the open court and will still suck on defense. I'm hoping to take a job out of state so I won't be tempted on spending another damn dime on the program

I've accepted this. At least it's better than Trent.

Maybe, but LSU tried as hard as they could to get left out of the tournament in 2 of their last 3 games entering the NCAAT. The major sin that deserves to follow CJJ is not getting the team to play at a consistent level when there is something on the line. This killed us in 2014 and it looks like it will kill us this year.

We were not close to being left out last year. Just because our fan base was worried doesn't mean anything. The committee showed that we were comfortably in.. It isn't even a debate.

Johnny upgraded the program now he probably reached his ceiling, This is what our program will be as long as he is here. Could be much better could be much worse.

Also Johnny Gets paid minimum wage compared to most of the other coaches in sec lol.

He misses the tourney with one star player and sudden its time to move on. People need to wake up. We were headed no where with Johnson. Atleast Jones brought some life back to the club

So he's the Gerry Dinardo of LSU Basketball. Great. Let's go find our Saban now.

Agree with this. Unless they're planning on ponying up for a major proven commodity, I've come to accept it.

This season has been a massive disappointment, but overall Johnny has raised the profile and quality of the program.

I personally don't trust Aleva to conduct a non clownshoes hiring search for a new BB coach, so not in a huge hurry to push Johnny out.

If Hornsby doesn't make the last second three pointer in Arkansas on the last day of the regular season, and LSU loses out in their first SEC tournament game like they did to Auburn, they may not have been in. That team gagged down the stretch and a key player chose to sit out and recover to be ready for the NBA combine instead of giving his all to help the Tigers win.

Never said they were a lock but a 9 seed is not barely in. There were 2 teams with lower seeds from the SEC including one in the play in games. That is the definition of barely getting in.
