On the OL:
Weathersby at RT
Clapp at RG or RT
Pocic at C
Malone at LG or LT
Teuhema at LT
"Boutte has been in position to play alot of football. Should he decide to have a great fall he could be one of the more dominant players."
On the defense:
"Dave Arranda fits the bill of just what we need...We'll mix up personnel but we'll be playing Dave Arranda football which has historically been damn good.
Goddchauz, Neal, Lactoure, Herren are names you will hear alot.
Neal is bigger and stronger this year with long arms.
Rashard Lawrence I think has the physicality to play early. Sci Martin, too.
Michael Divinity has done a good job and we expect him to play.
Devin White at 6'1" 250lbs runs a sub 4.5 and we expect him to play in every game at LB.
John Battle played most of last season nursing an injured groin."

I'm really stoked to see what this kid is going to do. I think he may be in line for a pretty big year as a freshman.

Agreed! Those are HUGE measurables! There will be some bumps and learnings for him along the way, as he will still need time to adjust from HS to College ball (much like LF7 had); but when he gets it, he will be dangerous!

"Les Miles on the positive addition of DC Dave Aranda: "I think being okie is always something I wanted to be." #LSU"
I am kind of new to football so I have no idea what type of defense he's hinting at? Can anyone clarify things to me?

I work in a place that is committed to providing our student athletes with an exceptional experience,” Miles said. "The tragic events of the last week, they have certainly taken the national spotlight, those areas include Baton Rouge.
"We have had several meetings. We met with the entire staff. It was not about our roles as coaches or staff, but more about who we were as people. I wanted to listen. I felt like it improved our communications.
"I have had two small meetings with leadership on my team. I broke that meeting into position groups. I felt like we brushed the surface of the issues. I don’t know if we got to the depth we needed. That has to continue, certainly at our place.
"When you look at what’s gone on in our country, and you look at the culture of a football team, people have to buy in and have to have great energy and have to work hard and do their job. When they do that, they come alongside a team effort. They are embraced by the team. They enjoy the position they have, and they are productive. That team is significant. If you have great talent, you can have a talented team, but you need everybody. I feel like our society is the same. We need everybody.
“If you look up and watch the representation of our country on live TV, you realize that change is necessary. It comes through all of us, everyone in the room. Certainly me. It’s inclusive. You reach for others, and you have to be respectful of their life and their opinion and who they are.
“I don’t know, personally, that I have processed the emotion that I see when the country is displayed as it is. What I would like to do is have our guys have a platform where they could affect change. I think they are wonderful men. They are constantly involved in roles. They are a student, they are a football player and they are role models. Society chases them. They want them at the party and in the magazine and they want their autograph. They are constantly barraged with 'whats the answer.' The reality is, you put them in position to have the greatest positive impact, because they are the future.
“(SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said) Sport has the way to unite people, and I agree with him. I hope that the Tigers do their best, and that happens in Baton Rouge, because Baton Rouge is home."

Not worried about defense... Worried he will continue to meddle with play calling.

Caleb Roddy, a stud DE in the class and Miles has him working out as TE?
quote:
LSU four-star signee Caleb Roddy left high school in Denham Springs as one of the nation’s top defensive ends. And with the switch to the 3-4 defense, Roddy has been working out at defensive end since moving onto campus in June. But Miles added that Roddy has also been working out with the tight ends, where he’s been joined by fellow 2016 signee Jamal Pettigrew.

Okie is a 3-4/4-2-5 look. There's a walk up safety/rover play maker.
I'm sure others can explain it better than me it's just a different look and can disguise a lot about where the pressure is coming from
Aranda schemes defense in a way to put the number in his advantage on one side of the line. It's attempting to bring pressure without bringing the house every play. I expect to see guys running free at the QB a lot. He's going to allow guys to use their nature ability and react more

Love his answer to the last question about 'opening it up this year'....CLM simply being CLM.
Reminds me of Ned Beatty in R.D. Back to School. "Whatever it is he said today....'
Well we are off and running, GT!

Edited...
I'm glad it's just me that is concerned with play calling.
Carry on
