Do you guys think he will use more man or zone in the back end?

Man, he could not afford to at Wisconsin. He has the personnel to do that now.

He apparently can use both. I remember in his presser him saying that he was excited to have the type of athletes in the secondary that would allow him to man up and come after people on occasion. That being said, I don't know that we can draw any preference from that comment. I think LSU has always been a better man team in the last decade and a half. I think he'll probably try and utilize that advantage.

I'm with you two. His scheme can utilize both, but LSU is built for man coverage, IMO.

I think he will use mostly man but mix in zone to keep the offense off balance

He has said pretty definitively he will be using press man coverage and he’s excited about the opportunity that gives him here with our CBs because it frees up pass rushers to do a bunch of different looks.

With the cornerbacks they have and the depth at linebacker being questionable I can see a lot of man to man on the outside with the safeties being there to help run support. Tre White and Kevin Tolliver will be able to shut down most of the 1 and 2 receivers they will face all year by themselves. I just don't see QB's having a lot of time to throw the ball to begin with. Arden Key is going to be an all american as a blitzing outside linebacker.

He's also about advantage and dictating. I think if a team like State is using option routes and drags against our man coverage, I would fully expect him to use some zone and zone blitz concepts to put an end to that, unlike our bold and fearless chief in 2013 where he just let Jameon Lewis pecker slap DJ Welter for 60 minutes.

Was it C Web and Zenon who manned up all game? That was so fun watching those guys shut down the outside and our interior D could do whatever they wanted.

Oh absolutely. And if the front 7 scheme is as nasty/disruptive as it seems, no reason to play out of that as long as match ups favor you

Having corners that can play man and somewhat be on islands allows Aranda, or any DC, to do some much more and be more creative. Opens up so many disguises and blitzes

For awhile there, it seemed like that safety blitz was an annual tradition against bama.

Man. It will allow more blitzing and disruption in the front seven
