Guy has a very creative mind.

Pass over the middle off of play action
LINK

A little misdirection. Watch the first and second play here . Similar plays with different personnel. If you watch the third play here as well, it's another TD on a pass over the middle.
LINK

Pass to the running back (wheel route) off of a fake qb dive . Notice the safety (coming up for run support) freeze at the 40 yd line.

Option to shovel .

So just normal football plays that we've been deprived of since 2007?

DeSean Smith would have been an All-American under Canada.

It looks good when it works.

Honestly would like to see him bring the best out of the trees we have at WR

To be fair, I remember watching that wheel route live and it was just a blown coverage.

True. The LB (#10) blitzed and the other LB (or safety) never picked up the RB coming out of the backfield. Still, you could argue that just the appearance of the option led that LB (S) to get sucked in.

However, the fact that it is something besides just lining up and saying here we come or PA pass plays that take forever to develop is a step in the right direction.

Couldn't you make the argument that really well designed plays tend to cause blown coverage?

happens on Wheels routes

It was a good read by the QB

Peterman looks like he has a decent head on his shoulders. His problem is probably more shoulder down.

You could literally say this about any play run by any team that is successful. The play is clearly designed to have the defenders bite on the run and it worked.

Anyone get the feeling we hired Matt Canada just for the Syracuse game?

Me neither.

Not really. I know what you mean but how many passes are that wide open.

an old Urban-era UF play. I was hoping Billy Gonzales would have gotten Les to run it more. (I think we ran it a few times, but not much).

Matt Canada is an excellent coordinator and a lot of Wisconsin fans were disappointed to see him go after his lone season in Madison, despite his admiration for the city/university.

Bret Bielema really kept Canada's offense on a leash and felt Wisconsin could win in 2012 on a power-run game alone, despite losing several offensive starters from 2011. It wasn't until Canada "put his foot down" and approached Bielema before the 2012 B1G Championship that the offense "opened up" and Wisconsin exploded for 70 points. There was an emphasis on the jet sweep that game and Melvin Gordon, as a Freshman, absolutely torched Nebraska for 216 yards on nine carries.

Yeah, that won't work with our O-line play from this year... Ensminger tried that kind of stuff and was crucified on here...

No doubt. People are going to lose their minds when they see this trick play that Canada runs called the forward pass. Instead of handing the ball off or pitching it to the RB, the QB throws the ball forward. It's incredible.

You run that dive enough & sell the fake, there is a good chance for a blown coverage. Gotta give the offense a little credit for the blown coverage.
