Questions, Harvey Williams, racism, Karl Bernard

Looking for some more help from those who were here, I was not in LA in 80's and would appreciate some info on
1) What was the story behind racist claims at LSU in late 80's, did it help cost Archer his job, did H williams start it, wasnt there a "community activist" guy who was inovolved and later went to prison on child molest charges? I recall some of this but someone told me yesterday it was H williams who started it and I do not recall it that way..
2) What was story with Karl Bernard? He, Hilliard, James all in same class, did KB leave simply becuase of other two, wasnt he darn good too?
3) Were there ever "point shaving" rumors around LSU/Tulane in 82..this was one of WORST losses for me, but someone (not a great source) recently told me that there were strong rumors about an asst coach and point shaving on this game...no reason to believe this, I still have nightmares about 4th and 4 for reggie reginelly...

Karl Bernard went to Catholic High, Weiner hates LSU
Harvey Williams was LSU's version of Cliff Harris - he loved fast cars
Archer would have probably been a solid head coach but the players coach was in way over his head
Point shaving is hard to do in football, a lot easier in basketball It could happen anywhere.

Karl was a top recruit, but he got hurt. The other two did great, and he never got a chance.

Karl liked the fast cars, IIRC he was stopped doing 115+, trying to get the bad gas out of his tank.

No, that was Victor Jones from Zachary.
Eames was a race baiter and shite stirrer. He called the two guards, center, and QB the "white triangle" at LSU.
Archer was young and not a very good recruiter/talent evaluator.

secman, i don't know much about your questions, but harvey and his brother darryl(sp) who also played at lsu, lived together. i had lunch a few times with darryl's wife, and she was a very good looking blond....but from what i gathered talking to her, i don't think she or the williams bros were real classy people.

I recall when Eames was arrested. He told a young girl that he was George Sells and would put her on TV. He drove to the LSU Lakes and had her rub lotion all over him. In his special van.

Karl is an attorney/agent now and taught me sports law last year. He's a great guy and a big LSU fan.

There is some classic thread on here that gets brought up from time to time that has Football players on the TD from the Archer time I think discussing this issue as well as great stories from the old Archer days

Harvey didn't start any racist claims that I know of and I know him personally. He was best buds with Troy L who I am good friends with to this day. HW is a good guy, he just never came back from the knee injury very well.

an LSU trainer that was on the field after Harvey blew his knee out told me that it was horrible and the worst he had ever seen. He said his foot was facing about 180 degrees from where it should have been. LSU ortho Doctors(Griffiths I think)put a whole knee unit(from a cadaver)in. I think he said that it was one of the first times that this had been done and he could not believe he could ever play again. Hope I got this right because time dims my memory

there were never any "racist" claims made by Harvey Williams or any other player; as it is today, there are a certain group of white racists and black racists keeping all shite alive. As i recall, harvey was not liked by some lsu fans because he was not in the same mold as what was then your typical louisiana black high school football player ( he was from texas and could speak well), he liked to showboat, liked white girls and most damning, he didn't run as hard as Dalton Hilliard.

Dude I went to school with Karl Bernard you are clueless. Dale Weiner didnt get to Catholic until 5 years after Karl graduated. Curtis Varnado was Karl's coach. He actually was running ahead of Hilliard in James in the first part of fall practice that year and injured his ribs and Hilliard and James came on and Karl transfered to USL then played with the Lions in the NFL for a couple of years.
