Our guys basically just stopped at the 2nd set of guys before the punter and did not try to get to the punter, I noticed 3 or 4 doing this. Why not go after the punter to try to get a block?

I noticed this also. You need atleast a minimum amount of guys trying to block st all times, otherwise, the punter will hold the ball longer like Wing would to let coverage get downfield.

Contain against a possible fake or Wing-like decision run.

The call is for LSU to set up the punt return 100% of the time. It's frustrating because punt ugly is vulnerable if you come after it and it's a good coverage formation so you rarely get a return off. But White ended up busting one today.
