I know Bama is a sensitive subject around here but this is a genuine question.

What is the consensus among LSU fans...

Was Ok St more deserving to play for the title last year than Bama?

I have always viewed the BCS as 2 spots. Not a matchup. Who gets in as #1 and who gets in as #2. They both built their resume through the year and it doesn't matter what the matchup is...as long as its the two most deserving teams.

Based on resume...Ok St probably deserved to be there...doesnt make a hell of a lot of difference though since Bama is the team that got in and they beat us...tough to argue with that.

No. Since Bama beat us, they obviously deserved to be in the game.

What does this have to do with TM7???

j/k

No question IMO it should have been OkieSt-LSU....OSU played a tougher schedule than Bama, won their conference, and had not played LSU while Bama had. If there was even the slightest slimmest chance OSU was the #1 or #2 team in the country, then they deserved a chance to prove it on the field. The bigger harm IMO is leaving OSU out and they actually be the best team in the country ... as opposed to basically no harm done in leaving Bama out seeing as though they had already lost to LSU anyway. while I do believe LSU and Bama were the two best teams, we will never know for certain because OSU was never given the chance to prove themselves on the field vs LSU/Bama.

But that's done. It was LSU-Bama, and Bama won convincingly. Can't change things now.

I know LSU fans have discussed it to death but as a SEC fan, I just get thrown off by reading some of the comments on here. I can't imagine how an SEC fan can say that OKST was a more deserving team than that Bama squad.

It is what it is. My objection is that if Bama and Okie St had been in each other's shoes, Bama still would have been in the BCSCG and Okie St would have been on the outside looking in. The field is always tilted in Bama's favor.

Maybe, but they still won both, which is more than bama who won neither.

I believe they deserved a chance to play the best team in the country up to that point, which LSU proved to be.

I also believe Bama was the better team than OKst. They proved to be better than us on 1/9. I am not a sore loser; we obviously played a team that was deserving of being there, otherwise the score would likely have been reversed.

Ok state got beat by Iowa State. Bama got beat by LSU. The 2 best teams played and we lost. We were not the worst team that night, we just played and coached like we were.

Bama was literally one amazing interception away from being undefeated.

I could see the debate if LSU had beaten Bama in a convincing way in November but that game was as close as one can possibly be.

25 years ago, that game would have been a tie and it would have been the most obvious national title game in the history of sports

If it makes sense. I think Ok St was by far more deserving, but I thought Bama was the better team.
OSU won their conference which should be huge when only allowing 2 teams in. They also played more ranked teams and bowl teams.

Fair enough, but LSU won the game. In Tuscaloosa.

The two best teams may very well have met Jan. 9th....There's absolutely no way to know for certain. However, it wasn't fair to LSU to have to play a team that they had already beaten when there was another deserving conference champion standing that had not already played LSU.
