This is awesome news if true. Even if not the opener, if he's available later in the season that's also a huge win.

Yeah. I was questioning Miles access to information inside of the LSU football program.

Try to keep up next time.

My first question is, was he carried away in an ambulance after an injury at practice? Why would there be any EMT's doing anything? Trainers usually make the preliminary diagnosis as to what it may be then the player goes to a doctor to narrow down exactly what the injury is and to what extent the injury is.

When has Miles ever been honest about injuries? He always says stuff like that and they sit out for most of the season. I remember when Blue was out he was like I think he'll be able to come back soon. Yeah right.

His mom said he will be re-evaluated at weeks end to see if surgery is necessary.

Why would the EMTs be making a medical diagnose?

Id be willing to be an absurd amount of money that an EMT isn't making that diagnosis or even present at the practice. Those trainers are far better equipped to deal with the dealings of football related injuries than they are.
No offense to EMTs, they are good at what they do.... but, i worked for an ortho trauma unit for years and diagnosing "athletic" injuries isn't what they are going to do. Broken bone yes, in a sense... But, that can't diagnose the actual injury. MRIs, CT scans and xrays are always needed to properly diagnose. Hence, why the "prognosis" may have changed.

How do you go from all year to can play in 3 weeks?

Same way you go from "arm may have to be amputated", to "he just needs stitches.

Reporting is so terrible these days. Everybody wants to get the story out the fastest regardless of if it's true or not.

Yeah right

Exactly. Thomas could be on the way to the hospital to amputate the arm, and Miles would say he expects him back real soon.

I agree with you completely, I have a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training and can tell you with supreme confidence that if there were a reported injury like this the Athletic Trainer would be giving the coaches the initial diagnosis that would be followed by an MRI/X-ray etc...

Then it would be passed on to a doctor for clearance on when he is able to play. But ultimately it is the Athletic Trainer who the coaches are listening to every step of the way upon recovery from said injury and there judgement, given the fact that they see the player everyday, will ultimately sway the coaches decision as to whether or not they feel he is ready to play.

Also I wish big Q a speedy recovery, he was a sophomore when I was a senior at Breaux Bridge. Knew he was a beast when he was being rotated with varsity his freshman year, great motor.

“The injury is not as serious as first thought,” LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said after Media Day Sunday. “He has a chance to return this season.”

Asked if Thomas could be back in time for LSU’s season opener against Wisconsin in Houston on Aug. 30, Bonnette said he was not sure. “But there’s a chance,” he said.
