last night. When asked if they were injury or discipline related, Jones would not commit to either.

Dude played 41 minutes so if it was disciplinary I'm starting to see why Jones can't get these guys to do the simpler things on the court out there...like weakside defensive help.

We are pretty soft. And poor old Elbert. 7-feet and can't rebound or block a shot to save his life.

Victor better be the second coming. I fear he will not be.

No Heart, no drive, no attitude on the court. Its sad to watch a basketball team with so much talent be so lazy on the court.

Biggest fear for this year is coming to life.....Johnny Jones and LSU are wasting the best basketball talent to come through here in the last decade.

Realistically we have 7 good guards and no true power forward.

Ben Simmons and Tim Quarterman are the only two players who try their best to get in position to get rebounds.

Jones has recruited the power forward position awfully. Losing Mickey down low has hurt tremendously.

Damian Jones a Louisiana product at Vandy will rape us when we play them. We have no one that can come close to guarding him in the paint.

Two Louisiana guys that should have never gotten away.....

Ricardo Gathers: Baylor Bears Power Forward averaging 15 points per game and 11.8 rebounds a game. 6'8" 275lbs.

Damian Jones: Vanderbilt Commodores Center is averaging 12 points per game and 7 rebounds a game. 7'0" 250lbs.

I knew this team would struggle tremendously in the post. Craig Victor should give us 7-8 points per game and 5-6 rebounds per game, however he is no Stromile Swift, Brandon Bass, Tyrus Thomas, Jordan Mickey....Could be in for a long year in SEC basketball....we have a team full of guards.

Truth hurts. I'm a huge JJ fan. Went to school with him at LSU. Won't find a finer person. But heck, he is being outcoached badly, mand does not have this team playing defense. We are awfully soft in the paint outside of Simmons.

Wrong. Ben Simmons is a great offensive power forward in the rare times we get him the ball down low. I would be perefectly fine if he did not have a single assist the rest of the season.

We need a true power forward to go along with Simmons. Victor may be that player but until he actually gets on the court and shows that he is, not getting my hopes up.

I will say us losing out on Gathers and James are huge. Can you imagine if we had those two on this team!

Robinson and Malone are complete waste. I don't think Malone has sniffed the court the last two games. Wasted spots on this team. We lose Simmons, Hornsby and more than likely Quarterman off this team. God help us next year. That's all of our offense.

What is your definition of a true power forward? Someone exactly like ben simmons but cannot dribble?

How many times did Gray of Houston blow by Quarterman and get to the basket last night? Where was the help?

@ TLSU
Did you watch last night's game??? Houston had a defensive game plan to limit Simmons touches in the post....and the zone defense worked to perfection. Problem is as I've said previously, when teams key on Simmons we rarely have anyone in position to get second chance points...we jack up 3 pointers all night with no one in position to get rebounds......and on the defensive side we get no weakside help downlow. Teams are driving the ball at will against our defense. It's hard to watch.

"Victor better be the second coming."

I hear you but I'm not entirely sure your assertion is true. We are so unbelievably soft and so inept at rebounding that the insertion of someone who is tough and can actually rebound would make an outsize difference. I'll put it this way: if Victor is a 12 & 8 guy, would you say he is the second coming? Of course not. But would we be about 7-1 with that kind of player on the team? There's a really good chance.

I'm not sure he's that.

I'd be ecstatic, and I'd be pleasantly surprised. But we need him to provide and interior defensive presence and toughness too.

I'm sure Malone is a good kid, but I don't think he'd get much playing time even on McNeese's or SLU's bench.

We rarely tried to get simmons the ball in the paint and when we did he would pass it out immediately. Houston did not play some kind of incredible zone to shut him down. He was shut down inside due to zero movement on offense, both inside and outside and due to unwillingness to be strong and score. I don't know if he is soft or what, but a player of his size has got to go up strong. No player of his size should have the mindset to pass first when he is around the goal. He had a play last night where he had an easy dunk but nearly lost control of it because for some reason he was going to dump it off to bridgewater. Wedo not need him to be just another guy who stands around the 3 point line for 25 seconds doing absolutely nothing.

I have never seen the kid play, but from what I have read, it at least sounds like he will be an improvement. He almost HAS to be an improvement given our disastrous rebounding and interior D.

They are a waste because the head coach doesn't know how to use a true center. Instead he has this infatuation with Bridgewater in the middle.

The bigger problem is that we have a shooting guard who eats up almost every minute yet doesn't rebound, shoot well, or play defense. Take a guess at who I am talking about.
