Some times 3rd on the depth chart is a necessity.

Oh yea, let's have the most pessimistic outlook on this season.

Gotta love the offseason.

No, just a matter of safety. Our program has actually been quite fortunate on this. I still remember when Butch Duhe died. A lot of fans were concerned about what would happen if Buddy Lee went down. Fortunately, Buddy stayed healthy until the second half of his very last game as a Tiger, which was the Orange Bowl against Nebraska (back in the day when Devaney was coaching the Corn Huskers). Bert Jones came in and took over. We barely missed winning that game and Nebraska wound up NC that year due to all of the upsets in the other major bowls that day.

It's a fair question. LSU has rarely made it through a season with just one QB, and a team doesn't need two season-ending injuries to get to a third QB. Off the field issues and even minor dings can require a third-string QB to play for an extended period of time.

In my opinion, being a "scholarship" player does not necessarily make one a better third-string QB. I feel as comfortable with who we have after Jennings and Harris, as I did with Rettig.

I think Bolden moves back to QB for fall camp with Dupre, Quinn, Upchurch, and Jacory Washington coming in ready to contribute.

Feleipe Franks is a 2016 recruit so I believe LSU will reevaluate the 2015 QB prospects and go after an athletic guy other than Torrance Gibson, someone like Dion Ray for example. JMO though.

Jake Clise played a decent amount in the saturday scrimmages this spring. I think the most of the walkons, and around the same amount as Rettig. He has that going for him

Kragthorpe is the eldest of the three, knows the playbook well. He would travel to away games and relay calls to the field when scholarship players like JRandall wouldnt even make the trip. Also a member of the unity council, thought of highly by his teammates and coaches

Bergeron may have had the most high school success, had some D1 offers from some schools (dont think any BCS offers out of STM but i could be mistaken), and did very well this past fall in JUCO.

Also like mentioned before, I wouldnt be shocked if Bolden moved back to QB when the fresh bodies come in at wideout this summer. However he may stay at WR, some feel thats his only chance at making a pro roster, and even contributing at lsu in some capacity this year. Good athlete, great teammate

Maryland was down to their 6th or 7th QB a couple years ago.

Haha, very very true

Had several QBs hurt, had to burn some redshirts, move athletes from linebacker to under center. Not much luck that season

Name me a team that wouldn't be in deep shite if they were down to their 3rd string QB. Walk-on or not, that guy's going to shite the bed.

I was thinking about this earlier today. If you are down to your third string of anything, you aren't expecting them to do too much. If Bergeron/Bolden could just throw the ball 20 times a game, we'd be good. I mean look at how we won 11 games in 2010 and 13 in 2011. Stout defense should be back, 4/5ths OL, and talent rich backfield.

I'm pretty positive that Fournette and Magee will run for 2000+ yards and 22+ TDs themselves. Hilliard and Williams with 500+ 10 TDs, and the QB/s with another 300-400 and 5 TDs. Run game is going to 2011 level.

That's what Custer said right before he was scalped. Ok McFly.
