IMO, once we play a game (probably Georgia) that back and forth, and considered a respectable opponent by the Rant, and JJ can bring the team back from a small deficit in the 2nd half, people will be alot more comfortable with him

Yep. That's how fans were thinking of JL after the Auburn game last year, then the roof caved in. Perception is reality and for most fans perception is skewed by their 20/200 vision. Consistency in execution and in particular the running game will do wonders for the average fans perception of JJ's game. Maintaining his current QB rating, hitting an occasional deep ball and the ability to run the ball effectively will make JJ seem like Everybody's All-American.

Nothing to cause the uproar. The main reason his YPA is low is the type passes he has thrown not his inability to throw longer passes.

All valid points and I hope you are correct.

I like JJ numbers but poeple have to recognize the problem is not all JJ. I don't like our formations, the no huddles, play calling and I really hate that we don't play a true fullback. I think we need to reasset our complete offense

The problem is this: LSU is 102 in the country in total offense!

But wait, some of you with the P&G glasses will say, "Our defense is putting us in position to make easy drives, or, What about our points per game, because TDs matter, not yds."

Ok, for those that say that, we are 53rd in points per game. 53rd.

But wait, then there are those of you that say that we are undefeated, and anyone who criticizes someone who is undefeated must be an idiot and is a negatiger and HATES LSU and is a pessimist in life and probably takes the fun out of everything he/she does. Give me a fricking break. 41 other teams are fricking undefeated right now too. What the VAST majority of us who criticize are saying is that our offense must make leaps and bounds of improvement to win 3 out of its next 4 games. Period. It just so happens that JJ is the QB of the offense, so its easy to look at him. And rightfully so, because he has played average at best. But the O-Line has been porous and C. Scott seems to have lost some burst. The bright spot on offense has been the WRs, who have minimized drops and are doing a great job in yards after the catch. Hell, JoJo even made a great defensive play against ULL.

I hope, like the rest of you, that we will START to improve, because we have not yet. Everyone says that we need to continue to improve. Thats horseshite. If we continue the trend we are on we will be in a deep hole come UGA. But just because I want us to improve, it does not mean that we WILL improve or that I KNOW we will improve, like some of you soothsayers do.

But his passing has been fine -- it's our offensive line that is lackluster -- not our QB.

Are you kidding? 7 passes against ULL would have been interceptions if ULL wouldn't have dropped the ball

Has LSU needed 1 point more to avoid a loss in any game this year? Maybe I could agree if we had come up short point wise because we could not score the needed point. I feel that more points could have been scored in each game if that was required in the games and the coaches desired to do so. Had the Tigers been behind by 14 or more points in any quarter I believe they would have opened it up and scored more. At this point there hasn't been a requirement for "vertical passing" in a game to change the outcome of the game. Nor has it been a priority of the coaches. Unlike some coaches, Miles is not in to running up the score to satisfy fans or voters. I believe getting a young QB grounded and confident has been more important than satifying fans who want to see the long ball. After last year can you blame them?

It takes effort to presume JJ can not throw down field. In fact, I think it takes a desire to come to that conclusion. If he has the arm strength and the time, what would preclude him from doing so? Why would he be unable to throw down field? I have yet to see those terrible downfield passes some claim.

It is amazing that some on this board would presume to know more than the coaches and players (who state that JJ is progressing well, reading the defenses, chekcing down to 3rd options and can throw the long ball well) about JJ's ability to throw the ball. Based on some, the coaches have chosen the wrong QB for the last 6 years.

Look, I do not mind if we are dead last in every statistical category in the country come mid-December, as long as we are undefeated. However, I see this current offense and it worries me that they have not shown the execution and dominance of lowly opponents that most expected. I hope and pray they get it done for 11 more games, but they have not shown any consistency to warrant much enthusiasm.

As for the down field passing... JJ has the arm, of course. He is also quite accurate on most intermediate routes. But if you watch the games, UW, Vandy, and ULL, he has not put the two together on passes longer than 15 yds. Perhaps he is just checking down because every deep route is ALWAYS covered, but I find that hard to believe that against 3 weak defenses our elite receivers could not get any separation? C'mon. I do not recall him completing any go routes or deep post/corner routes thus far. The only deep route that comes to mind is the TD to JoJo against ULL, and that was a deep out route. Other than that, he has not shown great touch on the deep ball. The arm is there, and the accuracy downfield will come. Unfortunately, he has not shown any signs that it will come this season. He may go on to have 2 fantastic years for us, but wins in 2010 and 2011 do not help us against MSU this weekend, much less UGA or Florida.

Thanks for the well thought out rational response. I disagree with you, but your position seems based on rational thought, not some agenda.

Because he is relatvely inexperienced and had a front row seat to witness the horror of last year, he could be being overly protective of the ball, not wanting to turn it over to the other team. You must admit last year was a nightmare season of historic proportions for a QB. It is reasonable to believe it would affect a young QB who does not want to be the star of a part 2 sequel. I wonder how it has effected the QB who was the star of the horror movie?.

I think where we differ is going forward you seem to feel JJ cannot progress significantly to win uncoming SEC games. My position is that I see a QB which I feel good about who has not shown anything which would lead me to believe he cannot be a highly successful QB in the SEC. What I have seen shows he can become one of the top QB's in the nation with a little more seasoning. He has ALL the tools required.

However, its like cooking gumbo. Before you put your seasoning in, the taste is not that going to be that great. However, once fully seasoned with the right ingredients, that's when you get the true flavor and got something special.

Miles and Crowton are adding the seasoning as we speak. Some fans want to eat before its fully seasoned and then complain because it tastes kind of bland. To them I say, be patient, it ain't soup yet. However, to me it is smelling real good. I can't wait until its done!
