That throw from B. Harris at 1:16

First thing the coach said to him after he threw it was about getting it UP. That throw, while a dart, would've only served to ring his guard's bell.

I'm gonna bookmark a few these and randomly bump them throughout the season.

I hope we have a good running game, because we're gonna need it.

Why is this stupid shite started after every video? You're seeing basically nothing that eludes to a good or bad passing game. We threw for 295 and 4 TDs in the latest scrimmage and from accounts of different people there, they both looked pretty good. I've seen at least 3 accounts from different sites, that both QBs threw downfield strikes. Now with fans in the stands Saturday, we'll see if they look even better.

It's a process, they are young, and it's only spring so chill out.

This one thread in particular . I bookmarked some idiots last year saying the passing game would suck and Beckham and Landry wouldn't be great. Looked over them last night and had a good laugh about stupid people during the offseason.

Well what stuck out to me is the big cat. Not one of our Defensive lineman drove the offensive lineman off the ball. As a matter of fact most of them looked overmatched. The only starter I didn't see was Christian Lacouture. We really need a guy to push these offensive lineman around. Where is the boss in the middle?????

I was hoping Jennings int against Iowa was due to the ball slipping, but it seems to be a trend

Before the Iowa game, a poster on here wrote that he watched a lot of practices and that Jennings had a tendency to overthrow and float balls over the middle. Boy, when he threw that pick against Iowa I that was running through my head while the ball was in the air. That guy called it.

Maybe they can coach that out of him. Regardless who starts (and I'd bet Jennings) it's going to be a ground and pound year.

Lets look at it this way. We will have one of the best OL in the SEC, so at least its not the other way around, then I'd be nervous. Improved LB play will help our interior DL play, or at least mask it.

Bain's looking good! With QT and LaCouture, we'll have three in the interior. It'd be nice to have four, but Gilmore and Herron don't look ready. Maybe Valentine can be the sub, but I doubt it. At DE we have Rascoe, Hunter, Allen, Bower, and Neal. I bet they use Allen a good bit to give the DT's a rest.

Thats a good thought and I agree somewhat. Keep in mind though that one of our second string O-lineman beat a starting Defensive lineman as well. Jonah Austin beat Quentin Thomas.

In my eye's Bain drew a tie with the second string center (K.J. Malone) whom he might be about the same weight as. Maybe heavier.

Damn, the QBs and WRs both look green as hell.

Good thing LF is the truth

This drill is just a straight up physical match up, and those will typically favor the offensive lineman. Defensive guys will use speed, technique, hitting gaps, spins, stunts, etc. to make their living. And those aren't allowed in this drill.

For everyone saying Harris looks better in practice and has such a stronger arm, please remember Josh Booty and Rohan Davey.

Booty had an absolute rocket of an arm and was much better in practice, hence why he won starting position. Rohan was the gamer. (although Rohan certainly didn't have a weak arm by any means)

High balls=interceptions. he seems to have some mechanical flaw. he doesn't get on top of the ball and get that downward trajectory on the short and mid throws. Harris's ball comes off much cleaner and on better trajectory. May be interesting to see how we play it come September.

it took way to long for somebody to finally get it that. The OL will always have the advantage in the Big Cat.

This is a terrible comparison because Rohan had one of the strongest arms ever at LSU. Watching Jennings and Harris throw side by side isn't even comparable as it related to arm strength. As for gamer vs practice player. All we have on Jennings right now is a 99yd drive against a bad Arkansas team and a terrible bowl game. If Harris can show the coaches he knows even a little of the playbook I think he sees the field early in certain situations.

Scout.com:

quote:

---------------------------

Ben Love: How did the last scrimmage go?

Anthony Jennings: It went pretty good. On the offensive side everybody’s getting better – the offensive line, running backs and wide receivers. We had a big day on the offensive side. We threw for a lot of yards and we ran for a lot of yards. Each practice we come out and we try to get better, and that’s what we’re going to continue to do.

BL: Last year with Zach Mettenberger this was a pass-friendly offense in a lot of ways. Have you seen that start to shift a little now that you and Brandon Harris, two guys with mobility, are the two main guys?

AJ: We’re emphasizing the running game this spring. I think that doesn’t shy away from our passing game, though, because we work on that as well. But we are running the ball and trying to emphasize the physical nature. I think spring is for that – to impose our physical will. We’re trying to get better in the running game and also the passing game.

BL: Do you carry the feeling that this spring for the quarterbacks is more about instruction and learning what the offense is and then there’s more competition that’ll come in August? Do you look at it that way?

AJ: No, there’s always competition and there’s always instruction. So there’s a happy medium in between the two. You’re always competitive with the guys behind you and in front of you. You’re always trying to get a spot when you’re out there and just going as hard as you can. At the same time with the offense, you’re trying to learn that and they’re trying to teach us what to do since all of us are young. I’m still trying to learn as much as I can because I know I’m not where Zach was a year ago.

BL: Compare your strengths and skillset to Brandon’s.

AJ: I think that he throws the ball well. I think he can run the ball as well. He’s a smart young guy, so I feel we compare in a lot of ways and have a lot of similarities. He’s a great

If all of that is even remotely accurate it may be tough to keep Harris off the field at some point this year.
