The competition is probably going to between Etling and Scott. We have already seen the ceiling on Harris and Myles probably will be red shirted.

He's been with the team for four seasons. He's listed as a junior, so must have redshirted, but he should be pretty close to graduating if he hasn't already. I also think I remember that he's engaged, if not already married. So, if he doesn't think he can play in the NFL, he may be ready to hang it up.

With Pocic moving on, he will have a shot to start. If Clapp stays at Guard, it will be between him and maybe Brumfield and one of the guys we brought in last year. Dodd will have the edge in experience if he plays well enough. We shall see.

Not sure why people keep asking for this. It will be an open competition, but he is the best we have. He's good enough to get us to 10 wins next year though.

I agree on Brennan being redshirted. After his injuries, I wouldn't be surprised if Narcisse is as well, but his raw athleticism and the fact that he enrolls early may make him a factor.

I know one thing. We will have an absolutely legit QB competition leading up to 2018.

I disagree. I think Etling can probably run close to as fast, but Harris is bigger, stronger, and has a MUCH stronger arm. It would be interesting to see if Canada could turn him around, but the guy we saw last year and for a couple of games this year isn't the guy we need. He would have to be transformed and Miles removed from between his ears to have a shot to be better leading the Tigers next season.

Had a brain fart forgetting about Narcisse. Yeah he could very well be in the mix.

If there is no quarterback controversy at LSU the fans will make one up. I know I'm right because there is no quarterback controversy now and some people just can't stand it.

With a new offensive coordinator and the quarterback position being LSU's Achilles heel, it's a guarantee that the qb position will be open competition next spring

I like DE and hope he wins the job. It should be an open competition every year anyway. The kid plays with heart and you know he will make three outstanding throws a game. Haven't seen that since Jamrcus to be honest. BTW I am huge Flynn fan FWIW

We finally get the first competent QB since 2013 Mett and y'all still complain?

I like Scott, and am rooting for him to start in 2018. But Etling is our guy next year. Go watch Jennings and Harris struggle against terrible defenses and then watch any film of Etling. We made a huge leap the moment he took over.

Etling looked a little off today but then again he hasn't played a game in a month. Still put together a decent game. Pocket presence and accuracy was off but he persevered. I don't get the DE hate on this board.

He outplayed the Heisman trophy winner. Fact.

I agree that Etlings fundamentals are bad.

Which losing quarterback played better than Etling?
Washington?
Ohio State?
Louisville?

We need to become OLU AND DLU to become more like our hated rival. In my opinion.

It certainly needs to be an open competition. If Etling wins the job then fine but he hasn't done anything to lock down the starting job.

Wish he had a bigger arm, but he's been a good QB for us

Harris has all the talent, but lacks accuracy and decision making

Everyone else has no experience....

Matt Canada has a big job ahead of him

get the right QB, we're off the races

I don't think Etling's fundamentals are bad. With protection, he is much more fundamentally sound than Harris. The problem is that he struggles to maintain those fundamentals when he gets rattled by constant pressure.

This is a common problem for QBs, but being able to still stay mechanically sound under pressure is the mark of a good FBS QB. If Etling can improve in this department, then he will be a solid starting QB for us next year.
