I'm not sure if this is because they saturated the colors in the photo, or if the pants actually different, but it looks like the pants striping actually match the jersey color correctly. Older photo from I believe 2016 which shows minor color darkening.

Helmet striping and facemask will never match correctly, but I think the darker tone looks better anyway. The stripes never matched the white jersey as seen when wearing vs. Army:
Regardless, this color scheme is absolutely elite. I wouldn't mind seeing it more often in SEC games like when we wore them against Vandy in 2019.

Fans who grew up in the Archer and Curley days are fond of the gold/purple/gold combination because that's what they associated with LSU. Those of us who pre-date those years associate gold/white/gold with the Tigers.
I never liked the purple & gold combo. It doesn't look like LSU to me, and I associate it with a lot of dreadful football. I love the uniform pictured above, though. The white/purple/white combo is a much cleaner, sharper look if they are going to wear purple.
