Georgia let go of Mark Richt and new HC may possibly want to bring his own DC. Georgia's defense was INCREDIBLY strong this season. Sure they play in the SEC East and dont really have teams that can challenge them all the time, but his defense came along really well.

Georgia Defense
Passing yds allowed- 1st in NCAA
Red zone defense- 1st in NCAA
Total defense- 8th in NCAA
Third down conversions- 9th in NCAA
Scoring defense- 10th in NCAA
Passing defense- 9th in NCAA

What are your thoughts folks? Give Steele one more year to bring in his guys and implement his scheme, or do we bring in someone else? I would hire Pruitt and demote Steele to LB coach. Steele wouldnt find a job elsewhere as DC and we could probably keep him for cheap.

I'd have to hear some GA fans thoughts, seems I heard allegations that Pruitt was somewhat of a cancer in the locker room...I may be wrong though

Steele staying as DC scares me.

Lots of players are showing support for him. Hopefully we can snatch him away from Georgia while they are unsure about their future

Well we know Les will retain the leashes to the O so to have any chance we are going to need a better DC. The philosophy calls for it anyway.

He scares me, but if you really really think about it a lot of our big plays were from players not understanding their assignments... Totally not his fault, but he isnt a true DC to begin with and should have never been hired as DC

Isn't Pruit a base 3-4 guy?

Everyone that cheered and cried for miles thinking he was leaving is going to be in for a shock when no changes are made. Miles has more power than Alleva now.

No idea, but I would rather have a guy run a 3-4 defense who knows what he is doing rather than a guy who's not a true DC

This.
If I were Alleva I would have fired Miles to avoid this scenario.

Alleva doesn't sound too strategery-minded to me.

No subordinate can be untouchable, else they aren't truly your subordinate.

I feel the same way. For this new 'clean housing' deal to work, Les might get burned if he leaves Steele as DC. With our offensive, you have basically have to be extra good on defense, basically lock down.

Well I mean yeah, that would be a fantastic hire. Whether he would leave UGA is another matter. Why would the new coach not want to keep him?!?

I don't see the administration putting any new money into the coaching staff when we are already spending a lot. Let Les work with what he has. And paying Steele a million next year to be a position coach is absurd. Peveto gets 450K next year, a 50K raise on this year.

Miles has lots of money for his friends, let him work with them since he hired him, save the money for the buyout next year.

I agree.

I doubt Miles makes any moves (unless his staff move to greener pastures - something Alleva made sure was pretty much any other pasture).
