What harm does a call to Sexton do?

It may be zero chance, but before Bama landed Saban, everyone laughed them in the ground and said they were completely delusional if they thought Saban would leave the NFL where he was given control of things to come back and coach in the SEC at Bama where he'd compete against his old school. It was ridiculous for them to think that.
No reason not to ask the best of the best and get told "no thanks." What if Bama big shots decided not to ask Saban because they didn't want to look desperate and ridiculous? We have our mind set on other guys I'm sure, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

This probably isn't leaking to the media so much as the media making a story out of nothing or someone saying "they are after a national championship caliber coach" with no more specifics. They do it all of the time.

I never got the sense Saban really enjoyed his time at LSU. I know agents are supposed to keep their client's names out front for leverage , more money,etc.But the agent does do that at the behest of his client. Saban never told Sexton to knock it off as he's done in Tuscaloosa, except for the Texas job.
