Pro Football Weekly comment on Chad Jones

Lists him as one who is sliding down
S Chad Jones, LSU*
Having stood out on the diamond as an outfielder at LSU and gone on record saying baseball is his first passion, Jones had some questions to answer during interviews about how he would handle adversity if his football career did not go his way, and he did nothing to squash perceptions that he cannot be trusted to maximize his talent, as his interview was described as one of the worst of the allotted 60 that every team is given. Not only did he appear dispassionate in interviews, he clocked in the high 4.5s in the 40 — slower than expected — and only repped 225 pounds nine times at 221 pounds, poor for a safety of his size irrelevant of whether baseball has affected his conditioning.

i wouldnt worry about the 9 reps on bench. the guy has plenty of functional strength. not to mention the bench pressing style for the combine is terrible for a baseball pitcher

it doesnt mean as much in his ability to play as it does in his committment to working out

sports specific training. besides he can always increase that number in the offseason with a team

i seriously can't see why anybody would be surprised by any of this.
i like chad alright, but he's not a top-flight safety. he's not all that fast, he's a sloppy tackler at times, and he can't cover.
would have been a much better baseball player.

can't say that i agree with that.
i don't think he has the killer in him that a safety needs at the next level.
he has that on the mound, imo.

I don't see why anybody is surprised either, I saw this coming... has he ever played consistently good? No.
He has looked lazy ever since he got here and was overweight. It all points to work ethic, discipline, conditioning. He obviously does not have the drive or enthusiasm to succeed. A total waste imo.

watched it. saw something that i had never seen from him in 3 years at lsu.
did you watch laron landry or craig steltz play at lsu?
chad jones will be remembered for:
sack at bama
gl play at miss st.
pr at miss st.
a cheap shot on a little arky wr (who then burned us for a last second td)

This. 220 lbs in a college workout program and you can only do 9 reps?

And while he was inconsistent in his 3 years, he made several HUGE game changing plays that directly prevented us from losing games

Georgia Tech pass he batted away
FF against Bama that prevented a TD (though we lost the game) and gave us the ball.
without thinking about it. There are more to add

I still think he should have focused on baseball. Why risk your neck in football when you can have a longer career and possibly make more money in baseball?
But, I'm not Chad Jones.
I wouldn't know.
