Somewhere between 18-24 is more likely.
Actually that seems about right. This is an LSU team that will have to prove itself to voters in 2013.

Let's be real. LSU has the benefit of the doubt from voters. Despite the fact that our fans don't want us anywhere near the top 15, doesn't mean thats where we will actually fall. LSU is always in the hunt for a national championship and has had several good recruiting classes and this one could finish in the top 3 or so. We will be ranked higher than 18. I am willing to bet anything you want on that.

They have had that benefit in the past but I don't see it being extended in 2013 especially with the emergence of A&M and Carolina and the reemergence of Florida.
LSU's coaching on the offensive side will cause many to doubt this team despite the talent.

This has nothing to do with where LSU will be ranked pre season.

I say 13. TCU will be 16.

Of course it does if voters are looking at LSU as being the 6th or 7th best team in their conference. It wouldn't be far fetched for voters to rank Bama, A&M, Florida, Carolina, and Georgia ahead of LSU.

I personally hope we start the season off believed to be the 6-7 best team in the conference. I would prefer it if we went into a season with curbed expectations and did well than to continue this NC or bust mentality and everyone be miserable when we lose a game.

Same here. The SEC has a habit of knocking down teams with lofty expectations.

Still doesnt really have much to do with where LSU will be ranked. If voters believe the SEC has the best 7 teams in the country, they will be ranked accordingly. Not arguing that those SEC schools won't be ranked in front of LSU, but those 6 teams could all be in front of LSU and LSU still be ranked 11 or 12.

Realistically, given LSU's schedule they could lose 3 games in 2013 and still make a case for being a top 12 team. But we both know voters rarely vote purely based upon who's the best in the country. A lot of these voters will see LSU has being in the middle of the SEC pack and project 3-4 loses on them and then rank them accordingly.

many AP voters are on record as saying this is how they vote preseason rankings.

It pains me to say but Notre Dame was never, at any point in time during the 2012 season, the best team in the country.
