My mom subscribed me to it when I was in middle school. Yes that was a different day and age. The feeling you got when the latest issue came in...

I subscribed for 12-13 years. My biggest gripe was, since I lived out of state, delivery was super slow. It'd take 9 or 10 days to get to my house, so during football season, LSU would have played another game before the issue dedicated to the first game showed up.

I kept all the preseason guides, and sold them last year.

I buy a subscription every year for the last 10 years for dads birthday. He's 84 and turns 85 on July 1st. He's been on home Hospice since January. I'm looking forward to buying another subscription this year

"No, but I did. Yes, I'm old."

I thought the same thing except that my answer was "Yes, my dad did, and so did I."

Me too! I guess that shows I'm not a bandwagon fan.

I was a charter subscriber to Tiger Rag and remained a subscriber for many years. It was a quality publication. The reason I quit subscribing was because the magazine used to arrive in the mail a week after the game was played. That was old stale news even before the internet age.

I subscribed for years. Had the same problems with late delivery so dropped it. Used to leave it in the lobby and it wouldn't stay out there a day before someone would take it.

I was a student at LSU in the early 80's. I had a Dairy Science class with a basketball player named Tom Curry who I noticed hadn't attended the class for several weeks. As the Tiger Rag was the go-to place for information back then, I called and asked if Tom Curry was still enrolled at LSU because he hadn't been attending our Dairy Science class. The Tiger Rag person on the phone said he had heard no news about Curry dropping out.
The next week there was an article in Tiger Rag that said " Inside sources have told Tiger Rag that Tom Curry has not been attending his Dairy Science class."
My first experience as an inside source.

I started getting it in middle school and didn't stop until the late 90's. I would read each issue 3 or 4 times. Those were great times.

shite, I worked for a radio station in Columbia, SC back in '92, and the only way I could keep up with LSU baseball was through the SEC's telefax number we had at the station. I'd call on a Tuesday so I could get the previous weekends scores, and overall season stats. Tiger Rag just took too long to get to me!

My dad didn't get Tiger Rag but I did. I saved some issues and I'm glad that I did.
