I really don't want him with Carolina, though. I'd hate to go against him twice a year.

Don't think you'll see him in Carolina, they have too many other holes to fill.

I know a corner has never gone #1, but what was the highest? IIRC, Primetime went 5th. Is that the highest?

#3 is highest. Forget who it was, it happened a few years ago.

I stand by statement. Not taking anything away from PP but but in my 35 years of watching LSU football , I've never seen a better ball hawk than Tyrann. He not only knocks the shite out of you .....he takes the ball away in the process.

Thanks PP.... you'll make big money and I'll pull for you all the way but LBOH has more game.

+1

ESPN has him on staff just to be different than Kiper so they can create some controversy on their end.

Tyrann seems more like a Safety/Linebacker with above average coverage skills. Peterson is a prototypical, beastly corner with literally no flaws in his game at his position.

Apples and oranges. We don't have another Peterson on this team

Huh? Did I miss something?

I agree that Tyrann was put in positions to succeed last year. I like him a lot, but there could be some holes open up in his game if he is moved full time to the outside doing nothing but covering receivers. I hope not, but it could happen.

I have mixed feelings on Peterson. He’s obviously one of the best athletes to ever play in P&G. And while he was able to lock down most receivers most of the time, he did get beat here and there in some critical situations. I think he’s easily the best corner to ever play at LSU. But I’m also interested to see what his NFL team will do as far as being a corner or safety in the long run.

I'm mixed on Tyrann. He doesn't seem to have the coverage skills, or I don't know why the staff would have put in Simon when Mo went down late in the year. But he was supposedly blanketing every receiver at a camp out of high school, including Jarvis Landry.

It's heresy to ever speak ill of Peterson on here, but I thought that too many times he would get caught trying to cover more than what was his responsibility, which contributed to him getting beat. We'll see if he can fix that in the pros. I don't see him being moved to safety. Just don't see how you can do that to a guy with his cover skills and frame that can run a 4.3

This part isn't a problem to me. In some situations it's best to have one person on the field without much time at their position (Simon at CB) than two (Tyrann at CB and Simon at Nickle). Especially when we're talking about freshmen.

Mike Mayock and Deion Sanders explained that a cornerback, no matter how good he is, can't be the first selection in the NFL Draft because teams can just throw away from him.

not sure if i agree. bpa is where it's at..

Kiper is a fu*kin douche. He's one of those basement geeks that was never any good at any sports and now he acts like he knows something about what makes an elite football player. Give me a break.

Ole Miss QB from TX whose name no one can remember is gonna be a 1st or 2nd round pick.
jevon snead. the sad thing is snead declared b/c he and his family believed mcshay knew what he was talking about when he had him graded so high.

lets not forget mel kiper had jimmy freaking clausen at the top of his board last year. never seen a draft where an expert's #1 overall prospect lasted well into the 2nd round.

both have their swings and misses. i think kiper is miles better than mcshay and mayock much better than both. i cant help but feel mcshay was created/hired to contradict kiper and create argument....
