Possible Transfer targets to reload in baseball?

Off the top of my head:
Storm, Dickerson, and Etzel from USM
Justin Storm-Marlins #203 (261,000)
Matt Etzel-Orioles #301 (167,000)
Dustin Dickerson- KC #229 (213,500)
USN beat us in the super regional two years ago, and gave Tennessee a run in this years super regional, so they are a quality program. The draft spots for these three, and the amount of money allocated, make them solid options in my book, as their draft stock could (will) rise at LSU, and NIL could eat into the financial side to a degree.
Thoughts?
Add you list of potentials as well if you would. In this day and age, reloading via transfers is one path forward for the juggernaut that is LSU baseball.

Justin Storm-Marlins #203 (261,000)

The 6-foot-7 Storm showed huge strides this season throwing 45 2/3 innings with 72 strikeouts, seven wins, eight saves and a 2.36 ERA over 29 appearances. Storm led Southern Miss in appearances and saves in 2023 all while proving he is a powerhouse in the postseason, posting a 1.04 ERA. His best outing during the stretch was against Tennessee, where he tossed 4 1/3 innings with no runs allowed while striking out three .
Matt Etzel-Orioles #301 (167,000)
quote:
Etzel was an immediate impact for the program, contributing 51 RBIs with a .317 average. He also recorded 23 stolen bases, the most since 1998 in program history. He was almost flawless in the outfield, committing only three errors this year.
Dustin Dickerson- KC #229 (213,500)
quote:
Dickerson started in every game except for one in 2023. He hit .328 with 52 RBIs, 11 home runs and 21 doubles. Dickerson was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and was the Most Outstanding Player of the Auburn Regional, hitting .364 with four homers and 11 RBIs.

They beat us in the regional, and then lost to Ole Miss in the super. They have a new coach, but he's being promoted from within, so have to figure that will help with continuity. We'll see though, it would be nice to add them.

My apologies. You are correct.
Nonetheless, they aren’t a shite program. I guess that was my intended point.

That it's a fool's errand to target guys that were just drafted. Especially these three because they aren't in the portal, I think one of them already transferred once, and they're all about to sign with the team that drafted them.

the obsession with players not even in the portal has to die

It really grinds my gears.

I went to USM and have a few connections in the AD. All the guys who got drafted by them are gone, only guy who might stay would be Verdung. Rumor was Etzel was always gone, Dickersons stock hasn’t been this high ever and he’s all USM. Storms already said he’s leaving as well
TLDR; the Baws you named ain’t coming

If those guys are in the portal they would likely have chosen that next team already and would be using that as leverage to sign with the teams that just drafted them
LSU lost three players last year under the same scenario
I think Jay learned a lesson last year and is only after players that did not get drafted

Definitely. Players that are rumored to go in the portal is one thing (Braden Montgomery), but players that have no rumors or not in the portal is just dumb. Especially drafted players.

That must have been a very hard lesson to learn, if the national championship was the result.

We need more bats and power.

There is a 200 pg thread on the Recruiting board where we’ve discussed it for like a month.
It’ll also be far more useful and less smooth brained than tRant version.

That's fine. No use of looking at guys who got drafted and aren't even in the portal for the bats and power.

Sure, we can play this game. 3 off the top of my head
Wyatt Langford - 4th overall. Was at one point considered a top 3 pick but had a real fall from grace. Could return to school and raise his stock
Blake Mitchell - 8th overall. Now that Jay has shown he can develop top picks, he should really be on Mitchell to come to college and go first overall. Mistake of Jay to let him go pro knowing he could be the next Skenes/Crews
Tommy Troy - 12th overall. Could be a top 10 pick next year if he proves himself in the SEC. Real position of need after losing JT.
Jay should contact these guys immediately

Southern Miss seems to always have sold pitching. I trust whoever Jay decides to bring in. But I'm not sure who Jay is even pursuing its been very quiet.
