That's because we self report every little bitty thing. You think those schools do that?

I'll take running a relatively clean program without the threat of sanctions over trying to get one over on the NCAA/SEC.

Unfortunately, that hasn't seemed to pay off in cases like Valentine.

Exactly!!!! How can anyone assume the #1 rated HS wide receiver has lost out on a starting position when he hasn't even had a chance to play a down in a game yet?

Maybe because he played in a veer offense and may have ran 5 routes in High School. It's gonna take a while to get used to an actual playbook.

Our compliance office is outstanding. It has served us well multiple times and probably more than any of us knows about. The situation involving the guy in Texas with the video service, the Russell Shepard situation and the Akiem Hicks situation all could have been worse if not properly handled by compliance.

Which is exactly the right thing to do.

Every rule/law violation is the act of an individual. It becomes an act by the organization when the organization fails to have adequate systems and processes to promote compliance and/or fails to act on information it has about a possible violation.

Yes are compliance people are strict, and yes it is a 2 way sword that could cut both ways. It is looking more and more as if the NCAA is losing the clout it once had. Not sure if this good or bad.

Wow Quinn is getting a rant out of a lot of people. He might not have had big stats in the first game. Some wont believe in him either because they dont see or understand everything or they have another favorite. He doesnt talk himself up he just brings it everyday he steps in the gym or on the field. Even when he does have amazing stats and results many still try to discredit him. From his speed to his high school records etc. Bottom line he is a baller. The coaches and players know hes a winner and produces. Im sure everyone has worked to get where they are. However the special ones put a little more extra into it and it shows. So whoever wants to rant on this kid or continue to discredit or downplay this kid go ahead because your the fuel. You will see while LSU has many special players Quinn will be talked about long after his playing days at LSU are done. Enjoy the show!

The process -- and the importance -- of maintaining a culture of compliance hasn't changed, and it never will. I've lived through a situation where an organization's culture got out of whack, and the process of getting it back is no fun.

If what's changed is that the NCAA has become more lax in its enforcement, there is no assurance that that change is permanent and that it will be applied evenly.

NCAA basically has said that the big 5 conferences can police themselves how they see fit

Getting back Porter, Bain, Gilmore, Herron, Dupre, Feist, and Robinson will only help this team going forward.

Gilmore and Herron were available, they just aren't good enough to get playing time. We'll see about Bain, but word is he's in the same boat. All of these guys are backups so I doubt they help much unless someone gets hurt.

I don't believe that for a second. herron got into some trouble in the offseason and that was his punishment IMO.

This has already been debunked, Miles addressed Herron at his press conference. Said he would have liked to have got him in but he needs to be "coached up" some more.

3rd WR I think #8 keeps that spot

Also wouldn't be surprised to see Pocic keep his spot. Still, Porter's availability lends much needed depth.

it would be trouble if herron, Gilmore, and bain all can't cut it (I don't believe this is the case). if that were so, it is double trouble since we have no dt commits in this class now.

We need help at DT. When our defenses are outstanding at least 5 and 6(2011) DTs play in the rotation. It is scary that Godchaux as a true is apparently better than the three redshirts from last year. Neal is light by even our standards at 255. Also CL and QT are not Brockers and Logan and may never get to their level, no disgrace by any means. It is what it is but at least one and hopefully 2 of the 3 redshirts can get "coached up" to at least play 2 or 3 series a game without hurting us.

The draft has hurt us at this position more than any other. I'm guessing the DT position is a lot harder to learn than we might think. Even Brockers redshirted and didn't really have a break out year until his redshirt Sophmore season (his last year). I think the DT situation has to be the most concerning spot on this team. Other things seem fixable, this one is going to be tough. I think Herron and maybe Bain are ready physically, but have not earned the trust of their coaches.

Pretty much. The NCAA has very little teeth when it comes to this anymore because they know the power 5 can tell them to F off.

I hope that they are adequate enough to give the starters rest, though.
