He's the best pitcher you have available, so use him.

Both Latz and Bugg are as good as Poche if Poche is on three days rest.

I'd start Latz, and give him 45 pitches. He should get you through three innings. Then Bugg should be able to go 3 or 4. I expect to be through six innings in good shape. If we've got a five run lead why throw Poche and screw up the Super?

On the other hand, if you start Poche, he isn't lasting past the fifth. You still will have to rely on Latz and Bugg.

Do you understand? You lose nothing by starting off with Latz and Bugg. If they suck at the beginning, they were going to suck at the end of the game anyway. But if they're nails, and you get run support, you're golden for the Supers.

I will be shocked if CPM starts Poche. Of course, he has more information than I do, so who knows.

You don't HAVE to. Though if we do use him, I would venture to guess it would be as a starter for a couple innings. Like the other poster said though, if we jump out to a big lead, you don't have to use Poche in that situation.

Once again, no 3rd or 4th starter will doom this team. Midweek is the best time to develop that starter with the competition you face in LA. Johnny Wholestaff does not cut it during tournament time.

Other than that, win or lose this team has overachieved.

I disagree, Latz is possibly as good. Bugg has been hit or miss.

Why does everyone think well have a big lead? What have we done to indicate well have a big lead on Rice?

I agree poche is the best option but Its almost comical that a program like LSU doesn't have 4 to 5 quality starters , and it's been a problem for quite a few years now ...,

..only in relief.

We can't afford to get down 2-3 runs in the 1st.

Considering we are playing on Tuesday this week, I would be shocked if we don't get the Sat-Mon Super Regional schedule.

more importantly, the winner of this regional plays the winner of the only other regional playing today. so yeah, i'd say Saturday-Monday. which means if Poche throws a few innings today, which he probably would have done tomorrow as part of his mid week routine, I'd think he could start Sunday

We had a 4 run lead on them in the first game.

I would start Poche and have him on a short leash.

If he gives up a few walks or a couple of hard hit base hits, I would pull him immediately.

Although I would use Latz today, it would be asking too much to throw Latz into the fire as a starter in an elimination type game.

I'd follow Poche with Bugg, then Latz, then Newman. L, R, L, R.

Have you watched the last six weeks of the season? Bugg has been consistently solid in SEC play. He struggled early and has clearly found it.

I agree with starting Latz if his arm is up for it, and hope he is able to get 4 innings. From there, I think everyone is available except for Lange. You obviously aren't going to want Poche' to throw for more than 3 innings max, but with him only throwing 92 pitches on Friday, it wouldn't be unreasonable. If LSU can get a lead going into the 7th, Bugg and Newman can slam the door.

Well since Pap is catching, either Bryce or Romero is sitting, and Romero has been clutch a couple of times this year.

We still have Krob going for us. Beau can get it done too, he drives in runs.
