I think that the key is to win one of the first 2 games without using Hess, then we have Lange with 5 days rest, Gilbert with 4 and fresh Hess. I like our chances.

Lange will be on 4 days rest and Gilbert 3.

No matter what happens in this series, if you're pissed after this post season you can go frick yourself. Go pull for another team because LSU doesnt need you

Poche' has pitched in two games so far. remember, he was the reliver in FSU game 1 and the starter in FSU game 2. the xtra day may be really needed.

No people aren't afraid to ask, but they also aren't dumb enough to think we'd start a 1st round pick on 3 days rest right before he begins his pro career. Poche on Monday would be slightly more understandable but either way we're not throwing Lange on 3 days rest
why do I continue to hear about Lange only getting 3 days rest if he throws Tuesday? He last pitched Friday so Tuesday would be 4 days rest

Sat, Sun, Monday. That equals 3. You don't count Tuesday because he isn't resting, he's throwing.

You guys sure don't seem to have much faith in Russell Reynolds.

He's a fifth year senior. And while he hasn't pitched much, that means this is his third time on a CWS team.

I think he's gonna have a great outing to end his career tomorrow night, and we're gonna steal the first one.

Well yeah, but you're really dumb. No one really cares whether you'll be upset or not.

That relief effort in the first game has to be factored in. He needs the extra day rest.

Last I checked there are still 24 hours in a day. Tuesday at 7 pm will be over 96 hours since he last pitched. That's a little over 4 days jackass

I don't disagree but I think baseball peeps consider that 3 days. I think both are correct reasoning different perspectives.

ill take my chances with Reynolds. Let's say we throw the staff minus Hess Monday. If we lose we down 0-1. They just pitched their second best pitcher and now we have Poche on 5 days then Lange. I love our chances at that point.

Heard the ESPN guys talking about the weather forecast. It may rain this week in Omaha, meaning we could see a Thursday game and then see Faedo.

Is everyone afraid to question the decision not to start Poche on Monday and then start Lange on Tuesday with three full days of rest for this one-time, special occasion? This used to be very common.

We've become an overly cautious society in general. And baseball coaches in their handling of pitchers get raked over the coals for ruining arms and overworking pitchers (see Skip Bertman).

I tend to agree with you it's gone a bit overboard and talking to some guys who have played and pitched, going on three days rest really isn't anything any of them would fear.

But perception and worst case scenarios tend to win out especially with pitchers about to go to the pros after this is done.

Lange doesn't throw until game 3 either way. You have Poche and wholestaff in the two games leading up to that. Whether you pitch Poche in game 1 or 2 you have to win one or Lange doesn't see the mound anyway. Why not let Poche get as much rest as he can?

One exception to that may be seeing Lange out of the bullpen in game 2 in a setup role if we have a lead and we win game 1. Other than that, he's a game 3 only option.

Because Florida is throwing Singer and is a weak hitting team. Why waste some of your best against their best when they don't have anyone after Singer?
