so you would seriously let Miles go for an unknown and risk having seasons like Florida, Bama, Tennessee, etc after successful coaches left their programs?

Les went to the seccg his first year with one of the most remarkable seasons we had ever had if you consider the shite storm the state had gone through.

But he didnt.

Sumlin did better than Miles in his first year than Miles is currently doing. 10-2 records, but he beat #1, and developed a Heisman winner to boot

Don't say that cant be done here. Thats the embarrassing part

Wait, when did Archer and Hallman take over from a NC winning coach? Damn, I hate that I missed those title games

So the next guy would be taking over for one also. He is doomed then from the start. Saban hasnt been here for 8 years. This is Les' program. Does the next guy get a pass for not winning 11 games in the first year? Cus miles won 11 and that was with 1 less ooc game.

Well thank god he was close

Miles wasn't too far off his first year either, but almost and close don't really mean much in this regard.

and if they don't work out? we lose 4 yrs or more, cost millions of dollars and then have to go back to the well JUST LIKE NOTRE DAME, USC, ALABAMA and MICHIGAN. meanwhile, the TAF spends all their reserves and people quit going to games and LSU is no longer an elite program. THERE IS RISK INVOLVED and the reward is not worth the risk. NO COACH wins em all. yes, saban is the best but he ain't coming here; he's got his gig and most of the quality coaches do too

Go ahead and name all the coaches that won a title after taking over for a NC winning coach. Then name all the ones that didn't

Ummm, nope, fail.

Miles went 10-1, won the SEC West and went to the SEC championship game. Sumlin lost 2 conference games and is sitting at home this weekend, watching the championship game on his couch.

And you honestly think Sumlin will continue to do as well or better?

By your, and most ranters' logic, Sumlin should win the SECT and NC next year or he should be replaced. He will have a reigning Heisman trophy winner, and will be building off a 10-11 win season.

You need Reading comprehension classes. The topic is dont run Miles off NOW ... because a 1st year coach wont do as well.

Well Sumlin did

SERIOUSLY???????

LSU went to the SEC title game in MIles 1st year. With ZERO weeks off because of a storm. Yes they lost to UGA but beat the shite out of Miami in the Peach bowl SOOO bad that Miami QUIT after the 1st quater.

And before you say that T A & M had NO bye weeks...... LSU didn't give up 50 something points to a team like LA TECH. YES Sumlin has a GREAT QB. But the rest of his team is NOT that special.

Ok you guys contradict every fricking thing you say. Miles gets bashed for the sec being down, but sumlin gets praise? Didnt one of our players go to new york last year? Something really hard fir a defender to do? Didnt we beat sumlin and his heisman troohy winner? Btw he hasnt won it yet.

I didnt say do well i said win a bcs title. Remember @ LSU 10 wins isnt good enough. So that should automatically remive sumlin from any discussion.

You realize La Tech is #1 in total offense? #1. And TAMU is not winning any awards for defense. So giving up 57 points or whatever it was isn't so much a stretch.

Just for the record, TAMU is #2.

Source @ESPN

ETA: LSU is 74 Miles.
