There is no place I'd rather be than in the LSU student section. They ARE the experience.

For those that like to stay, sure! I never leave early at it pains me to see others do it. But...I'm not the boss fo everyone, and the fact is that those folks who ARE leaving early are almost certain NOT the ones making a ton of noice or bringing excitement to the stadium. In short, I'd rather then leave, make more leg room for me, and allow traffic to be less horrific when the game finally ends and I hit the streets.

This is a decision LSU could forgo. The band could play whatever it wants, and LSU could simply allow students to be students. I've never understood anyone who thinks the way to change a person's behavior is to forbid them from doing a thing...especially when that person is young and/or drunk. It's like that suggestion is made by people new to the planet.

- More people engaged in the game = more fun
See #1. That's only true if they were/are...and even when in attendance a good number of people (and this is far more true for folks outside the student section than in) are there to socialize as much as they are there to watch the game. For frick sake, we just finished an addition which GLORIFIES attending the game for social reasons and gives those fans the ability to do a ton of things other than watch the game.

Nope...A&M is that-a-way. We don't need Yell Practice, thanks.

There's a reason the players gesture and run towards the student section when they want to get hyped up. It's doing just fine. However, the old folks section at nrg this past weekend left much to be desired. STTDB

Agree with everything except 3. Don't be vulgar.
I think it enhances the home advantage, and you think the players don't love it when they do that?

A&M is lame. The student section at LSU is by far the best. We make our football players feel like warriors in the Coliseum in Ancient Rome.

Given that number, the stadium is actually about 8% full of students....slightly less than one-fifth.
Get out of here nerd. You're the kind of fan that I enjoy launching piss bombs at when I'm nice and liquored up during the games.

What is your idea of more fun then?
Letting people do what they want.

This.
I'm not the oldest guy on this board but I've been going to (lots) of LSU games since the early 70's. I was a student and sat with my "adolescent hemorrhoid" peers in the mid-80's. I've been to lots of other stadiums as well, in and out of the SEC.
LSU's student section is right up there with the best of the best. Always has been.

STTDB might be the lamest chant I have ever heard. At least come up with something creative.
Exactly! But your point is lost on most of these fricktards.

Apparently no one on the Rant understands the concept of DENSITY
frick people
frick people

Yeah cause calling the other team/fans "assholes" during a song is the epitome of creativity.

The student section is still the heart of the stadium.
Yea until halftime...when majority all up and leave.

How is it any less creative that "hahahaha a-hole assholes?"
None of the vulgar chants are particularly creative, so let's just stop using that as some slight against STTDB.

Just like every other section. And it's still the heart then. What's your point?

It just looks worse because the students all still pack to the bottom while the general population stays in their seats
But yea it's stupid

I wasn't giving you a "do this or else scenario" if you plan on leaving early, in my opinion, don't show up.
is that hard to comprehend? if you are going to contribute to the larger-than-it-should-be crowd of people who leave early...then flat out don't come. there are plenty people who stay and have fun and don't use traffic as a lame arse excuse to leave early.
don't want to sit in traffic? fine...here is an easy fricking solution. go back to your tailgate after you've stayed the whole game, crack open a drink (non-alcoholic if you're driving or if you are, whatever) and listen to the radio show and the highlights, or commiserate with fellow tailgaters who stayed for the whole game as well...
problem solved. has worked for me and my family for years. it isn't fricking brain surgery.

I remember an Oregon St game around 04 where it stormed and delayed the game for at least an hour. The student section then all stayed, even though they were soaked and made a ton of noise the entire game.
That was the first game I ever attended at Tiger Stadium and we watched from beside the gymnastics team. They removed their shirts and waved them around like mad while some law student streaked across the field (and later got kicked out of law school). Before anyone asks, the gymnastics team had on sports bras. Still, it was a helluva way to get indoctrinated into the experience of LSU Football.
