This one stunk. Set tone for game and put team on its heals. That change counted many, many good moves

Hindsight. There wasn't a single poster in that "Coomes starting at 1st" thread that thought it was a bad move. Nobody could have foreseen Coomes making two uncharacteristic plays. I personally feel absolutely terrible for him.

he took a risk going for the better, more patient bat in the line-up

Florida just found his defensive deficiencies first

ETA: it was a calculated risk, esp with a pitch to contact pitcher throwing but he figured he needed a better bat

I don't dislike the decision. Coomes has been better at the plate this season and until today was a solid first baseman.

STFU. We did not execute with 1st and third and no outs for two straight innings. That is the problem.

He made 2 errors and DID NOT STRETCH right on a ball that could have been another out.

I could argue coomes would not have taken out the SS to cost us the tying run.

coomes should not see first base again. this was his worst night but there have been other night where he was pretty bad. first base is harder to play than many think it is.

as far as his hitting, i'm not impressed. he very well may be our catcher next year tho.

and, since we gave up a zillion runs in the eight inning it didn't even matter.
