I don't mind taking shots just not a play action pass with a blindside guy coming in that could lead to a sack fumble like it did. Up 8 with all the momentum we let believe they still had a chance.

Drive started with 1:10 left so it even made less sense.

Yep. Up 8 at home, you play safe. As for having to give the ball to OM to start the second half- that was also a very poor decision. One I hope O will be smart enough to avoid in the future.

you call a pass there, it should have been a screen or a quick 3 step slant to protect the QB. They tried to take a shot and it backfired. So, maybe a better, more fitting pass call works fine. THAT CALL was a disaster, especially against a D that we know can rush the passe
no out Tackle whiffing is what happened

If we run any play and a player fails to do their job. shite happens

Look at Wisc, Pocic let a blitz er come up the gut. shite Etling just dropped a ball against AU

Yeah. A play that takes longer to develop than pretty much anything else in football against a defense who's only redeeming quality is rushing the passer with an O Line that has really struggled at times in pass protection. Up 8, going to half, sitting in the shadow of your own end zone. Perfect call.

Hindsight is 20-20. It was a good call given the circumstances. OM was obviously anticipating a run and could have been asleep on a deep ball. I like going for the jugular.
Just bad execution by Teuhema.

Damn. Knowing your personnel and their weaknesses IS PART OF COACHING. We have been inconsistent in pass protection all damn year, all across the line. Why get greedy with a long developing play there? It makes absolutely no sense. The staff gave away momentum and 7 points with a gamble against the odds. They have to know our odds before the snap, or we have a problem.

Cause if the end bites on play action you don't have to worry about him

If he doesn't, we block him. Neither happened
And Ole Miss doesnt pass rush worth a shite, why do you keep saying that? Literally less than two sacks a game!

They got plenty of pass rush last night until Haynes went down.

it was a one score game Ole miss was getting second half kick We had time and timeouts. Two reasons to throw it. Worst call all year? this place and hyperbole. Just diving it in the line is dumb, ole miss would get ball at 50 with time left, they had two timeouts if I remember. You had to gain ground there That's like three reasons to throw it

We were inside our own 20
We were averaging like 13 yards per rush attempt
IF that play was successful, what does that get us to, our own 36 yard line?
We have the lead
If we were down 20-7 I could absolutely understand it.

hind sight is always 20/20. if we make the block and Etling steps up in the pocket and connects on the pass, everyone would think it was a great aggressive call.

My bigger issue with that sequence is not using a timeout before Ole Miss punted the ball. Basically let them burn around 45-50 seconds after the 3rd down play ended. By letting the clock run, you're basically trying to get to halftime, so just run the ball once you get it back, minus a big punt return.

this

But imo the not calling a timeout sends every signal we are planning on sitting on it. Why the end had his ears back Is pretty odd

We had killed them on that kickout, there is no reason for him heading up field like that
