How does Skenes get tagged with L if he only gave up three runs and we ended up scoring more than 3? Can someone explain?

Because he started the game and left the game losing.

W-L is a stupid stat line for pitchers. Has just as much, or more, to do with how the rest of the team performs that night as it does how someone pitches.

When he left the game, we were in position to lose.
We never tied or went ahead from that point.
So from the perspective of which pitcher was in when we went behind “for good,” he’s the losing pitcher.

No one knows anything until they’re taught. Nothing wrong with asking a question you don’t know the answer to.

If LSU had taken the lead and/or tied the game at any point after Skenes had left the game, he would have been off the hook for the loss. Since he left trailing and LSU never tied the game after he left, he got the loss.

Perhaps they would like to start watching a lot of baseball and learn to understand it better.
